With all the sea days, is the us and Canada cruise worth doing?

I guess it depends if you enjoy being on the ship or in ports. I like ports and will choose to fly in order to minimize the sea days. Sometimes it's cheaper to cruise across water than to fly if you can afford to be away that long.

From the uk,on p&o, there is an almost set itinery of ports.

New York, Boston, then up the eastern seaboard,into Canada and Nova Scotia.

We did this trip back in 2011 but on the QM2. The Eastern seaboard ports and Canada are well worth doing especially if you go in September/October time, when you will see something of the Fall colours which are amazing.

 

Personally though, I would not cross the North Atlantic on any other ship than the QM2 as she is built and designed for such transatlantic crossings, not cruises, unlike all the other ships about these days. She is a much more stable and comfortable ride than any other ship, and the onboard activities to while away the lazy days at sea are far better on Cunard than P &O . But if P &O is your only option , then go for it.

I did this on Arcadia in 2012 and loved it.

I must admit though, I love sea days.

The ports are brilliant and there is so much to see and do.

I did my first transatlantic on the QE2, which was also fantastic, just a different holiday.

The Fall cruises are fantastic, and recommend that you do it.

However, as mentioned by mysticalmother, an atlantic crossing can be very bad experience if you do not choose the correct ship.

I tend not to go over the top in praise of cruises but this was the best one we have had. 2013 September on Aurora. Very lucky with the weather and the sea. flat calm for every sea day and all but one night and that was on the way back. Fabulous cruise and the sail in to New York at 10.30 in the morning breathtaking.

 

Its quite expensive but worth every pound.

 

However we love sea days, which helps.

We also did this cruise on Arcadia about 4 years ago. All the ports are very easy to DIY and very enjoyable.

Again next year. Yes a lot of sea days, but the promise of warm sunny days!
