San Juan Port

Recommended Posts

Won't be a problem. We were going to do it, but we arrived at the port to meet family in the middle of a B2B too early. They weren't ready to take luggage. Had we been 45 minutes later (or so the port said) they would gladly "babysit" your luggage while you go off for the day.

Do you remember how early you were? We are thinking 10-10:30 time frame.

We grabbed a taxi out of OSJU around 8/815. We would have been fine if we had our own luggage tags. The porters didn't have any on hand, and we always use the porters luggage tags.

Since they usually start boarding around 11/1130, I would guess your mentioned timeframe would be okay for a luggage drop. I would also suggest getting checked in at that time. That way you are able to just walk on the ship when you are done with your day.

Enjoy your cruise!

There have been a lot of posts on this lately. The general concensus is that luggage drop off may start around 11am, check in starting around 11:30...but boarding doesn't typically start until after 12:00. They have a waiting area you will be sitting in until the ship is cleared for boarding.

We boarded Jewel last week around 1pm and the ship was still empty.

The port is easy to get in and has lots of taxis, so dropping your tagged luggage and heading to OSJ for a few hours is a great idea. The other option is to just taxi straight to Barrachina restaurant in OSJ (they open at 9AM). Barrachina will hold your luggage (with tip). Since you will be paying for two taxis anyway it is basically a wash. I have done this twice now. The taxi ride is $12 to the pier from Barrachina (plus $1 per bag).

Enjoy
