Carnival excursion to barrier reef?

Has anyone done this excursion?

Carnival offers a boat ride taking approx. 45 min to get to a very small island

where you are placed in 3 sep groups and set off to snorkel while the guides

are in canoes???

 

Just wanting to know any feedback good or bad before I book and pay for this.

The worst thing about ship sponsored snorkel/beach excursions in Belize is that they are crowded and you'll have slower snorkelers holding back the faster/more experienced snorkelers because the guides don' want anyone going off on their own. Second worst thing is that you can often get a private vendor to do the same or similar caye at a lower cost and less crowded group.

Do you have any suggestions for private snorkeling boats in Belize?

 

What attracted me to this excursion was the fact that the boat took us to the

island first and then snorkel.

My older daughter doesn't like to snorkel , so she would be able to relax on the

beach while the rest of us were in the water.

You'll have to research the private vendors, either on this board or via google. But most agendas I've seen in the past, head to snorkeling first then a beach. And direct pick up drop off from ship is valued by some versus the time lost tendering back and forth from the pier.

 

So the Carnival excursion might fit your expectations better, if DD only wants to sit on a beach. But the cayes being used often change. So hopefully some one who has taken this excursion recently will make a response.
