basor Posted March 30, 2015 #1 Share Posted March 30, 2015 We are sailing on the Nautica from Southampton on the 17JUN 2015. We will be staying in central London (Crown Plaza) for several days prior to the cruise and have arranged with Smiths for a private transfer from our hotel to the cruise terminal on the day of our cruise.....for those that have sailed out of Southampton before: Do you have any suggestions of shops to purchase wine prior to boarding - in Southampton? in London? on the way? We can have Smiths take us to the store prior to arriving at the terminal. Thanks for your advice Ron and Barbara
turnip eater Posted March 30, 2015 #2 Share Posted March 30, 2015 You'd be better posting this on the Ports of Call board for Britain. There is a poster there called John Bull. He will give lots of info.....plus there are other eager posters there who will love to give you relevant information:)

Do you really want to have bottles rattling away in the car, all the way from London to Southampton? There is a Tesco near the port in Southampton, as someone with local knowledge will tell you on Ports of Call, but of course your choice.
BenMurphy Posted March 30, 2015 #7 Share Posted March 30, 2015 Hi ask your taxi driver to take you to Tesco or Asda on the way to port. Both stores have a good selection and excellent prices. They will put them in a wine carrier for you. Enjoy Josie
robbie21 Posted March 30, 2015 #8 Share Posted March 30, 2015 We had a very nice experience purchasing our wine at Majestic Wine before boarding Nautica last Aug. We bought at a store in the Cotswolds but they have stores all over including Southampton so google them at majestic.co.uk to find one on your route. They have a 6 bottle minimum which was not a problem for us :). The selection is outstanding for European wines as well as Aus/NZ/SA wines. The staff was very knowledgeable and made some recommendations that turned out to be outstanding. Prices were good, too. :D Enjoy, Robbie
basor Posted March 30, 2015 Author #9 Share Posted March 30, 2015 Thanks everyone - you have all been so very helpful.... turnip eater - thanks for your advice, I did post on the ports of call forum also but have received the quickest advice from fellow Oceania travelers. I knew I could count on Oceania cruisers to help, especially with finding great wine to take onboard and enjoy from our verandah!!!
