NCL Sky or Royal Majesty of the Seas

We have to be in Miami this fall for a conference and are looking at tacking on a 4 day cruise (Mon - Fri).

We've narrowed it down to NCL Sky or Royal Caribbean Majesty of the Seas.

Both go to Nassau. Each has a stop at their own Bahamas Island. NCL goes to Freeport. Royal goes to Key West. The itinerary is a toss up for me, not a big deal either way.

Prices are similar now for either one. I've never been on either ship and don't normally do cruises shorter than 7 days but this time frame works for us.

Can anyone who has been on both share comments?

Been on both, would take the Sky over Majesty. Sky is a newer ship and has more and better dining options. We love the Sports Bar (chicken wings at midnight!) and eating breakfast outside at the Great Outdoors.

I believe the stop in Key West is very short, whereas the stop in Freeport is all day. Both private islands are about the same now. NCL pumped a ton of money into GSC over the last 4 years. Casino on Sky is much better. B

Both ships are nice and I am sure you will have a good cruise on whichever one you decide.

don't like negative comments about ships, but I have to say, the Majesty of the Sea was the worst ship we have ever sailed. The cabins are tiny, the service was barely up to par and we were not impressed with the food or entertainment. The best part might be the Key West Port, but Freeport would work I guess. We enjoyed the Sky. I will add we sailed both ships many years ago, so my comments could be very out dated.

NCL Sky is a fantastic ship and their crew is phenomenal. Given your desire to remove DSC's prior to even stepping foot on a ship, I wouldn't recommend this one. The crew is too great to be treated as such.

I didn't see the comment about removing the DSC. I agree with you and I very much am oppossed to anyone doing this, for any reason.

Royal Caribbean is getting rid of majesty. I wouldn't sail on her if there were no other ships on earth. I sailed the sky in December. Thoroughly enjoyed it. crew was great. I wasn't sure how a shorter cruise would be but the crew were happy and friendly. Food was good. Best cagneys meal I've had on NCL. Love GSC. I say Sky 110%
