Buying cigarettes

Recommended Posts

Thanks Bob, but because it is duty free do you have to go through customs to get back on the boat ?

My experience is that you don't go through customs until final disembarkation.

You can buy them by the 1000, on the ship, they do a 5 carton carry box

Also a 600 3 carton assortment.

In GIB, you can buy as many as you like and take back onboard.

As already posted it is the customs of your final destination that has limits.

Ex smoker :D

I used to buy the 1000 option first night on ship as soon as the shops were open

And consumed some, took rest home.

Happy Days!

Hi, we were on the Regal Princess Oct. 2015. In St. Thomas, my DH bought 5 cartons as did I. After the fact, we read it has now been changed to only FOUR (4) CARTONS, p/p. Luckily, through customs, we declared the 5th carton each, explaining we did not know the change or when it occurred....Been buying 5 each the last 20 years. He was very nice and let us go through because we told him the truth.

Just a heads up! The 4 carton rule is for St. Thomas or maybe on the ship?).

Have fun :-)

PS Does anyone know the rule for purchasing cartons of cigs on the Western Carib. route? thanks very much!

According to the US CBP web page, the standard limit is 200 cigarettes, however from the US Virgin Islands and a few other locations you can bring back 1000 cigarettes (5 cartons) once every 31 days.

Just ask your friendly room steward to grab you an ash tray....or take one from the pool deck...always seems to be plenty out there! (Jk/src)

What ship now still allows smoking on the balcony? I only know of Holland. Princess lets you use an E-cig in the cabin? Pretty strange for that and not on the balcony. No odor at all.
