Davey-D-99 Posted April 5, 2015 #1 Share Posted April 5, 2015 First time NCL coming early 2016 on Getaway. Very excited family. Question about the H20 adults area. Pretty sure I will prefer this area by day as opposed to the crowded main pool area. Always prefered the smaller back pool on our Carnival cruises. I understand there is no pool but hot tubs and a waterfall of sorts... that's sounds perfect to me. Are our teenagers (well behaved) allowed in at all during the day hours? If not to sit and relax but at least check in with us? Is NCL really strict about teens being in the area at all?

Beaver1975 Posted April 6, 2015 #3 Share Posted April 6, 2015 (edited) The rule is followed very closely. Or at least it was when we were onboard in January But, then again, we sail when there are not that many kids onboard. I am sure people will push the envelope to see what they can get away with. Crusin6 Posted April 6, 2015 #4 Share Posted April 6, 2015 How close to age 18 are they? I had my 19 and 20 yo with me and of course they were allowed but if they were 17 and 18 I would have been maybe ok with them in there by day That's not to say they would have been comfortable there as they would follow the 18 plus rule Spice is very nice very quiet and plenty of chairs and loads of sun. No shade at all Sent from my iPad using Forums

Plenty of college age in January so over 18 17 and 9 months is totally acceptable in my book. Or recent high school grad Sent from my iPad using Forums Edited April 6, 2015 by Crusin6

Davey-D-99 Posted April 6, 2015 Author #8 Share Posted April 6, 2015 They are 16 and 14. I guess it's the main pool area for us... No problem. I'm sure it will be a fun week!! How crowded and loud is the main pool? Do the smaller kids usually stick to the kids pool only?

How crowded and loud is the main pool? Do the smaller kids usually stick to the kids pool only? Don't worry, there's so much more to do than just the pool. With 5 waterslides in addition to just swimming they won't get bored. We were on the Breakaway at near full capacity and even though it was crowded at the pool, the lines for the waterslides never looked that long. When we sailed on the Epic, we witnessed minors in every area of the ship that was designated "Adults Only". This includes SpiceH20, the casino, and Bliss Ultra Lounge. Even after bringing the issue up with Guest Services, they defended the presence of minors in "Adults Only" by calling it Freestyle cruising. But, I don't want to a be accused of being a Cheerleader and possibly attacking a new member here at CC. So, I will just say that you are entitled to your statement and I am entitled to mine. Besides the OP's question was about the Getaway and not the Epic. Getaway has doors leading to Spice H2O and Epic does not.
DumbleDork Posted May 2, 2015 #14 Share Posted May 2, 2015 I seriously doubt this and the crew response. Unfortunately, the lackluster experience was very real for us. Should you choose to believe us or not. But, I don't want to a be accused of being a Cheerleader and possibly attacking a new member here at CC. So, I will just say that you are entitled to your statement and I am entitled to mine. It is possible for people other than yourself to have a negative experience or reception. The sheer volume of people employed at cruise lines like Norwegian is inconceivable, there are bound to be managers and hospitality staff that do not meet or exceed the cruise lines expectations. You are also entitled to take our experience with a grain of salt, but we stand to gain nothing by besmirching the cruise line without warrant. Had our experience been more positive, our comments would have reflected that. Besides the OP's question was about the Getaway and not the Epic. Getaway has doors leading to Spice H2O and Epic does not.We appreciate you pointing that out, we have not sailed the Getaway and were not aware of the difference. Happy sailing!
