SeaCruiser52 Posted April 6, 2015 #1 Share Posted April 6, 2015 This is our first trip to South America, looking for info on transportation and lodging from Santiago airport to Valparaiso. We are planing on arriving the day before sailing. How far is the airport to the port? Any suggestions of we're to stay at airport or at hotel in Valparaiso? And what are the costs and what is the currency? Thanks. 4774Papa Posted April 8, 2015 #2 Share Posted April 8, 2015 We have used SouthExcursions on two separate cruises for transport between Valpo and Santiago, with tours included. You can easily book a winery in route in Casablanca valley. Suggest Casa de Bosque winery.
crusingnut Posted April 8, 2015 #3 Share Posted April 8, 2015 We used an excellent private tour guide, Cristian with Ruta Valparaiso http://rutavalparaiso.cl/sitio_ruta_index_en.htm. They will arrange the tour to your desires. We did go to Indomita winery, vina del mar, & Santiago. We went to a great little place called Sibaritico for a quick lunch (at our request) for the traditional Chilean hot dog, very different from the American hot dog. It was the best tour of our SA cruise. You can see if they will pick you up at Santiago and end in Valparaiso which is where they are located. Can't say enough good about them. 4774Papa Posted April 8, 2015 #4 Share Posted April 8, 2015 One point, on our second trip to Chile, we stopped at the Indomita winery. We had previously been to Casa de Bosque, which was wonderful. Indomita treated us like a herd of cattle, it was not that wonderful.
bradshore13 Posted April 20, 2015 #5 Share Posted April 20, 2015 We did a tour with Michael at winetoursvalparaiso.cl. Very good. He is a British expat who is also a sommelier. Many people don't realize that in between Santiago and Valparaiso you have the Casablanca valley and you can stop at wineries and have lunch on the way. Not sure when you are going but the currency is Chilean pesos which are about 650 to our dollar. For transport, contact this person: christianroymx@hotmail.com He is known as the "Van Man". Orlando Vic Posted June 10, 2015 #8 Share Posted June 10, 2015 has anyone use the services of Leo Cusmar lately?the info we find about him is couple of years old. Nothing for 2014 /2015? We used Leo Cuzmar and his colleagues in 2014 and also in 2012. He is quite simply the best. Look at his testimonials http://www.tripadvisor.com/ShowTopic-g294305-i2020-k5194022-Leo_Cuzmar_Chile_Guide-Santiago_Santiago_Metropolitan_Region.html Yes, he is that good! CRUIS4ME Posted July 5, 2015 #10 Share Posted July 5, 2015 Has anyone taken a side tour to Manchu Picchu? Beginning to look into going in early/staying a few days depending on which route we take.
4774Papa Posted July 7, 2015 #11 Share Posted July 7, 2015 Has anyone taken a side tour to Manchu Picchu? Beginning to look into going in early/staying a few days depending on which route we take. We have been on Infinity to South America twice and the Machu Picchu side trip through Celebrity was way to expensive. I have done some research and found tour companies that offer a week long tour including days in Lima, Cuzco and MP, which with airfare from the USA were cheaper than the Ship's side trip.
