LuvMyVette Posted September 9, 2005 #2 Share Posted September 9, 2005 Hi Thanks for the drydock schedule. What are the plans for Grandeur? By any chance have you been on Explorer yet? Will be on it next year for a B2B cruise. 85 cruises.. I can only wish for that! Thanks again!

barbyma Posted September 9, 2005 #4 Share Posted September 9, 2005 Bob, I thought Explorer was due for dry dock soon. Was that on a previous schedule? Thanks for the info, BTW Barb
sailor moon Posted September 9, 2005 #5 Share Posted September 9, 2005 Wow, good to know! We will be on Splendor 12/1/05 and 6/11/06 and look forward to seeing the before and after. I also really hope they add a concierge lounge to the Rhapsody during the stretch.

rfische1 Posted September 9, 2005 #9 Share Posted September 9, 2005 Where do they drydock these massive ships?
Coralc Posted September 9, 2005 #10 Share Posted September 9, 2005 I know they did Grandeur's last drydock and Sovereign's in the Bahamas, in Freeport. I believe Enchantment was stretched at one of the shipyards (In Finland?...someone will know) :) And, thanks for posting the drydock schedule. Great information! :D
Clarksfan1 Posted September 9, 2005 #11 Share Posted September 9, 2005 It's really disapointing to see that Majesty is only going to be in for three days. Only enough time for a fresh coat of paint and replace some carpet. I would like to see more renovations done on board. Most of these will be cosmetic(?) drydocks. Nice to see RCCL keeping the ships in good shape.
SantanaTto Posted September 9, 2005 #12 Share Posted September 9, 2005 Can someone please tell me exactly what they do to "stretch" a cruise ship?
SingBill Posted September 9, 2005 #13 Share Posted September 9, 2005 We are sailing on the Monarch 2/10/06. Good to hear that it is going to be "fresh".
prc Posted September 9, 2005 #14 Share Posted September 9, 2005 Can someone please tell me exactly what they do to "stretch" a cruise ship? Think of your dining room table...you cut it in half, slide the two halves apart, then insert the "leaf" or new center section. When you put it all back together, you have a longer dining room table. kbisok Posted September 9, 2005 #15 Share Posted September 9, 2005 Does anybody know if the Voyager is going into drydock before we sail it to Europe next may ? I read on some thread that it would before sailing to europe but nobody can confirm that...
Pumbaamd Posted September 9, 2005 #16 Share Posted September 9, 2005 Bob, we are booked on the Grandeur repo 11/19/06. Looks like that's not gonna happen. A couple of ???'s. Will they sail empty from Baltimore to drydock or have a mini-repo? What will Grandeur's schedule be after drydock?
RDeagazio Posted September 9, 2005 Author #17 Share Posted September 9, 2005 Sorry Gang.. that's all the info I have at the moment. I believe Navigator is scheduled for drydock soon but that was not on the list RCI gave me. The Grandeur will be stretched like the Enchantment.. all other ships drydocks will be the normal "cosmetic" ones.. fresh paint, carpet etc.
Belle2002 Posted September 9, 2005 #18 Share Posted September 9, 2005 Its official, Grandeur 11/19/06 repo cancelled, got a call from my TA. So just sitting tight to see what the next step is. Belle
Pumbaamd Posted September 9, 2005 #19 Share Posted September 9, 2005 This is the e-mail I just received from RCCL. Looks like the left hand does not know what the right hand is doing. "Thank you for your email, we apologize for the delay in our response. The Grandeur of the Seas dry-dock schedule is tentatively to take place from April 2007 to May 2007. This is certainly subject to change. Thank you for choosing Royal Caribbean International. xxx xxx xxx Customer Service Representative"
LuvMyVette Posted September 9, 2005 #20 Share Posted September 9, 2005 kbisok: Voyager will be going to Europe next year and Explorer will be taking her place in Bayonne, NJ. When DH/I were on Voyager in July, we spoke to the Captain and he mentioned that this is the last year of Voyager sailing out of NJ and will head over to Europe. Belle2002 Posted September 9, 2005 #21 Share Posted September 9, 2005 That is encouraging, just hope that your response is better than the one that I received. I will keep my fingers crossed and hope for the best. I had wanted to do this cruise this year, but it was all sold out. Then when it became available in May for 2006 I jumped on it. So I have been pretty depressed today just thinking about this cruise not happening. Belle

P&DinDE2 Posted September 10, 2005 #24 Share Posted September 10, 2005 what will they be adding to the Grandeur if they stretch her? We are sailing July 2006 hope it is done before we go! Then it will be like being n a new ship. What did they add to the Enchantment?
RDeagazio Posted September 10, 2005 Author #25 Share Posted September 10, 2005 There are numerous reviews and news articles on Cruise Critic explaining what was recently done to Enchantment's stretching... Grandeur will be done the same way. Do a search on the boards or look under the news heading for all the details..
