Celebrity Summit vs RCCL Adventure of Seas for 30 yr old Couple- are we too young

I am looking for some advice on if my wife and I should try Celebrity. We normally sail on RCCL and looking at a Southern Caribbean itinerary. It would be on the Summit vs RCCL Adventure. We have both sailed on Adventure band most recently on Oasis, have about 10 cruises under our belt. Will there be enough ship activities for a couple in their low 30's? I've heard the food and service is much better on Celebrity but will we notice a difference in entertainment and not having many other guests in our age range. Are we too young to try Celebrity? How would you compare the two lines? as I know they are owned by the same company. Any insight would be appreciated, thanks in advance.

I was on the Summit this March and had a great time. There is a vast mix of ages during our sailing. It's probably not as active as RCCL but I still found things to do every night. There were always people up dancing in Revelations until 1:30-2 in the morning. They seemed to have different themes each night like 70's, 80's, Ice Party, St. Patrick's Day that brought people out to the pool deck or Revelations after the late show. I'm sure every sailing is different but I enjoyed it and am going again next March.

FYI - I'm 41 and there were people from our rollcall in their early 30's as well. But again people on the rollcall in their late 50's to 60's even came out dancing with us a few nights.

We have not been on this particular ship, but what I think matters more than the ship is the time of year. We sailed on Silhouette a few years ago in January and it was mostly an older crowd. The club shut early every night. We then went on Silhouette again last July and it was WAY more lively, with people out & about drinking & dancing till all hours.

We are in our early 30's and sailed on the Summit in 2013 - in early December - Southern Caribbean. There was a mix of ages on this cruise. We made friends and hung out with a bunch of people our age and had a great time.

The evening is a bit tame - but with a port intensive itinerary we were in bed by midnight most evenings.

We found a blend of personalities, ages, and interests on board the Summit on our last cruise. We are sailing on this ship again November 21st 2015.

Just got off the Summit today- I am 35 and my husband is 38.

I've admittedly never been on RCCL, but we loved the Summit. We enjoy low key, live music, less crowds. We loved the Summit southern carribean cruise so much we booked the same cruise for next year. The average passenger was closer to my parents age- which was fine. They were very nice people generally speaking and it made the more active excursions that we did very uncrowded. Pool chair hogs were not on this cruise and I didn't feel nickel and dimed on this cruise like I did on NCL. Overall- it was an awesome vacation. Hope this helps!

We sailed the Summit on back to back this year in January/February. We have booked Summit again for B2B but now want a third week and are considering RCCL Adventure of the Seas for the third week. We are only changing from the Summit because we want to change up itineraries. However we have the reverse concerns. We very much enjoy the Summit and Celebrity, and although RCCL and Celebrity are owned by same group, we are concerned that the food, ship and group will not be as good. So go figure :D

I have sailed both-Adventure years ago and Summit in 2014. We are 31 and 34, now with child. I personally can't see myself going back to RCCl. I haven't been fond of the direction they've gone in the last several years (not into bumper cars, making reservations well ahead of sailing and so on). I also starting hating the belly flop contests and other "cheesy" events but did like this in my early cruising days, so maybe I am just jaded. BUT I will admit the nightlife is much better on royal caribbean! The casino is also better on the Adventure but expect it to be filled with smoke. This was a problem for me as I have asthma, but may not bother you. Either way I am sure you will have a great cruise!

Just realized you have already sailed on Adventure so let me just highlight main differences from my perspective. I do think the food is better on Celebrity but not a huge difference from Royal. I wish they had just a few more activities on Celebrity (like maybe more trivias and karaoke like Royal) but if you are on a port intensive cruise it is probably just fine. I love Cafe Baccio and Murano on Celebrity, but enjoyed Portofino as well. I also think they have better cocktail options on Celebrity.

Celebrity and Royal have a wide range of ages. I sailed on Adventure once. It was not as good as Celebrity. I have sailed on Summit many times and have 3 future bookings on her. Summit is nicer than Adventure. My kids also prefer the Summit. Have a good time.

Lots of people seem to ask this question and I think it's really not an age question as much as a cruiser-style question.

Do you want to be up and dancing until 2am with a lively group? Chances are X is not right for you. Will this be a port intensive itinerary where you enjoy a great meal, some time in the casino and a post dinner drink? Then you're in the right place.

I've done both classes (Voyager and Millennium) and would happily pick either. The more restrictive smoking policy (smoke free casino!), better food and slightly smaller ship would give my personal edge to Summit.

Good luck deciding.

We are on both in January, February 2016, so we will be able to compare first hand. The only reason we are coming off the Summit is to be able to have a different itinerary. Grenda is my favorit port while Barbados is France's favorite. Luckily both ships are at same pier in San Jaun so we will just wheel our luggage a few hundred meters down and have our third week on Adventure.

I think it really depends on what you are looking for. I have been sailing X since I was 22 and have loved every cruise on it. Some of my craziest and wildest cruises have been on X including staying up dancing until 5am. It really is dependent upon when you sail. What is it that you are looking for? That might be able to help guide some of the answers.
