We will be traveling on the Celebrity Silhouette out of Amsterdam on July 3. We were wondering if anyone has any detailed information regarding the Celebrity excursions in Berlin. We are looking for a detail description of the excursion regarding what you stop and get off to see, how much time, and what are the drive past and view from the bus. The Celebrity site doesn't give any detail. Thanks to those who can help with this.

I believe there is a telephone number posted on the Shorex website. It says to call this number if you require more information. I find redesigned Shore Excursions page to be very weak.. I wonder if anyone is purchasing Shorex from Celebrity in advance, as there is so little info about them online.

Here is some more that I dug out of the Celebrity website. Not sure how deep and detailed you wanted/needed. Does this help some?

A times, the X-website can be a little "challenging" for being user-friendly. It takes twists and turns to reach the better info. Some of these tours on their website also have some comments from past users, etc. The big question is about the six hours, total, in one day, on a coach getting there and back. Here are the five options that show from their website:

Nagingmom,

If you are docking at Warnemunde, like we did, you will have almost three hours on the bus each way But you can get an intro to Berlin.

If you have not joined the Roll Call for your sailing please do so. There may be some of your fellow passengers with space for you on a small group tour. The advantages are measurable. You will still have the same ride by bus but the small groups save time, and usually money. There are many recommended companies on the Ports of Call boards too, or use Trip Advisor for additional recommendations. Another option is Tours By Locals.

If you can check the rail systems for trains you can use this option and meet a guide in Berlin. The train station in Warnemunde is less than 10 minutes from the pier. There are frequent trains to Rostock where you can transfer to a Berlin bound train. The main train station in Berlin is centrally located and quite an architectural site worth checking out.

If you are going to be in Berlin on a Monday check to see if the museums of interest to you are open. Many are not.

Thanks everyone for your responses. I was looking to find out whether you view some of the sites or whether you do a stop and get to walk around. The Celebrity site doesn't really give you time frames or specifics, just generalizations. I was hoping someone might have a more detailed explanation of the excursions.

When we were in the Baltic last year, we toured St. Petersburg with SPB tours and were very happy with their service. They, and most of the other private tour companies in St. P offer tours in other Baltic ports, including Berlin. We did not go to Berlin, because we had been before, but we talked to people who had used SPB there, and they reported that their tour was well run and interesting. They saw more than the cruise line tour passengers did. The price was higher for two people, but reduced sharply for larger groups.

If you look carefully at what I posted earlier, you can see that "photo stops" are listed and mean you will be outside of the bus. Versus just doing a "drive by" for certain sights. Very seldom do cruise line and/or tour companies give exact, highly-detailed time schedules. Why? There can be adjustments do to road closings, traffic, construction, etc. Adjustments to schedule are often needed in large cities and they want to stay somewhat flexible.

Clearly there are options to consider for whether you want a tour option that gives you more timing flexibility to do things on your own . . . versus . . . a tour where you are riding on their set of scheduled locations/stops. Some prefer more "explore the city on your own". Some do not like that flexibility.
