DreamingBig1 Posted April 14, 2015 #1 Share Posted April 14, 2015 Kind of a stupid question. I have sort of a feeling on what the answer is. Is on board credit a use it or lose it thing? Or does the unused portion go with you to a future cruise?

johnql Posted April 14, 2015 #4 Share Posted April 14, 2015 There are 2 types of OBC - refundable and non-refundable. If your OBC is refundable, you will receive a refund. If it's non-refundable, you will lose it. There is no such thing as a carryover to a subsequent cruise.
5onadime Posted April 14, 2015 #5 Share Posted April 14, 2015 You can use on board credit to purchase a future cruise credit. Which will work as a deposit ( at least you could in June of 2013)

pokerpro5 Posted April 14, 2015 #7 Share Posted April 14, 2015 (edited) You can cash it out if you are willing to lose 3%. Here's how: 1) Go to the casino while it's open 2) Buy chips at the blackjack table for whatever your unused OBC is. Sign it to your room. 3) Make up an excuse to leave. "Oops, I didn't realize what time it was, I'll come back and play later." Take the chips with you, obviously. 4) Go cash them out at the cashier. 5) You will find a stateroom charge of the amount of chips you bought plus 3%. But you will have that cash (except the 3%) in your pocket, and the OBC will cover the stateroom charge (aside from the 3%)! So if you have $100 unused OBC, go buy $100 in chips at the casino and cash them out without playing. You will see a $103 charge on your stateroom, but $100 of that will fall off thanks to the OBC, leaving you with just a $3 charge. And you will have $100 more in your pocket, so you have just converted $100 OBC into $97 cash! This works, is legal, and isn't violating any of NCL's rules.
