Hi we are looking at booking our 4th carnival cruise. I have always booked with early saver in the past.

Does anyone know if I can book with early saver then do the price drop for the casino rate since it is about $70 less per person.

Thanks

Worked for me, too. We booked ES almost a year before the cruise. I price dropped to a couple of different rates and a few months before our cruise, the Casino Rate was offered. Since the cruise had long been paid for, we had a very nice amount of OBC because of this rate.

Isn't that what Early Saver is for?

What am I missing? You don't just compare the ES rate to the ES rate, do you? Isn't the whole idea that you get any fare for which you qualify?

I don't book it because I don't like restrictions. You can get price drops on any rate up until final payment. After that, I simply stop looking at the price. ;)

Another question, if you don't mind. If you're booked under a rate other than Early Saver (casino, military, etc.), can you price match to an Early Saver rate if it's cheaper than what you're booked under as long as it's before final payment?

No, you can't price match to Early Saver unless you actually want to switch to ES (and are ok with accompanying restrictions).

If you are checking prices daily because you have booked ES, do you search under specific advertised specials or do you just search for your specific cruise for your dates? I would imagine it would be the same no matter how you search, am I correct? Thank you I'm trying to check daily am want to make certain I am doing this correctly to not miss a drop.

I usually search for my specific cruise and put in my VIFP # (in case I have a casino offer) and click all the way through to the different rates. The other day I got $30 OBC as part of the ES special, even though the rate itself hadn't changed.

I also sometime will use the Fareviewer to check. But, it doesn't show Military or Casino rates. But it will show resident, senior, past guest, early saver, or other random sales.

Good luck! It often is worth the time when you do find a price drop - and even the hunt can't be fun!

How do you get the casino rate? Is it a personalized offer?

The casino rate is personalized to your VIFP number. You can see it in the main page under my VIFP offers, or if you're searching for a cruise and input your number, if you're eligible it will show up as one of the rates.
