Rami077 Posted April 18, 2015 #1 Share Posted April 18, 2015 We will be in La Spezia in May for the day. We have visited Florence and Cinque Terre before. We are thinking of making La Spezia a bit of a rest day. What can we see in La Spezia itself? Is there enough to see?

kuldalai Posted April 19, 2015 #3 Share Posted April 19, 2015 Whilst there is nothing wrong with La Spezia it is basically an Italian Navy town , there is nothing much to see really . You might consider going to delightful Portovenere . Take Bus P from Stop P in Via Garabaldi (La Spezia) near the intersection of Corso Cavour . Departures half hourly at 25 and 55 minutes past the hour . Travel time to Portovenere is 30 minutes. Alternatively delightful Lucca is quite doable from La Spezia by train around 90 minutes one way with a change of train required at Viareggio . Check Trenitalia website for latest train times. sotong Posted April 19, 2015 #4 Share Posted April 19, 2015 Sorry to gate crash this post but thought it may assist?? We have a day in La Spezia in August from the Disney Magic, we (my DD 12) won't want to be off the ship for long so ... If we disembark can you walk into La Spezia and find an area where we can have a wander, have a look around, maybe visit a few shops or a market? Is there a beach? Assume as this is a large naval port that there is a bus into town? anyone have any more info? Thanks, Gillian. :)
