mick4810 Posted April 21, 2015 #1 Share Posted April 21, 2015 Hi this might seem a stupid question. We have done various cruise lines but have never done Costa. As they are italian based are they mainly Italian customers and is English widely spoken. We are thinking of trying a Costa Cruise does anyone have any thoughts? G.M.T. Posted April 21, 2015 #2 Share Posted April 21, 2015 Depending where the cruise is, Italians could well be the largest group from any country but they are not normally the majority of passengers. English is the language mostly widely spoken by the crew, MDR, bar and cabin stewards all speak English. Don't worry, be cruising.
greg2014 Posted April 21, 2015 #3 Share Posted April 21, 2015 I can confirm. Also daily program, voice messages and shore excursions are available in English. You will not have any problems. Have a nice cruise:-)

dizzy1948 Posted April 22, 2015 #5 Share Posted April 22, 2015 (edited) Albiet it is 4 years since we were on Costa, all announcements were in 5 different languages - don't know if that is still the same. eg: Bingo was called in 5 different languages, we didn't play, just watched. Interesting...... All notifications were in 5 different languages. Then again, there would be a lot of multi lingual people on board, and of course the different nationalities, so it makes sense. AmoMondo Posted April 22, 2015 #6 Share Posted April 22, 2015 Yes it is still the case that they have announcements in 5 languages occasionally more. English will always be one of them. They always have a jost for English speaking guests to who speaks English as a first language.

Dancer Bob Posted April 24, 2015 #9 Share Posted April 24, 2015 Safety announcements are always made in English. English is the working language for the hotel staff. They will understand anything that's enunciated clearly with simple vocabulary.
