Why no cabin yet?

A cruise line will make deals for moves from one type (OV) to another (Balcony) for US pax. Twice in my experience.

 

If these passengers had booked up on a Minimum Grade Guaranteed basis and are moved to a higher grade for example a balcony that should already be covered by their original booking basis deal. So if they offer an Upsell deal where you pay say $100 and then get a Balcony you have got to be saying to yourself I need some sort of refund to recompense me for the deal that I missed out on i.e. free upgrades. Are you certain the people you refer to have made minimum grade guarantee bookings?

In some cases, the room upgrade is the compensation especially for a price drop. I went from solo studio room to mini-suite guaranteed on the Breakaway due to massive price drop - NCL didn't want compensate in OBC for the difference, so I winded up with a 'free'upgrade instead (studio was originally $879 plus taxes & fees). I didn't know about my room number until weekend before the trip (which was a good thing because I didn't have a printer at home at the time - I do now;))

Yes, I did, had an OV GTY and actually had an OV assigned when the upsell offer came.

We just got good news, we had Oceanview Guarantee and got upgraded to Veranda midship. I could not have asked for more.

Also, the best and quickest way to get the information is to log into your cruise site and put in your reservation number. This should be faster than waiting for the Cruise Line or your Travel Agent to inform you. This is how I found out.
