Charliep57 Posted May 4, 2015 #1 Share Posted May 4, 2015 Can anyone tell me please how late you can stay on the boat? Our flight is not until 3:50pm from Portland, so we did not want to take the shuttle so early (7:45am) but just stay on the boat until maybe noon. GITC Posted May 5, 2015 #2 Share Posted May 5, 2015 Can anyone tell me please how late you can stay on the boat? Our flight is not until 3:50pm from Portland, so we did not want to take the shuttle so early (7:45am) but just stay on the boat until maybe noon. It should be indicated on your tickets/itinerary. Embarkation for the next cruise starts at 3:00 PM, based on the May 17 itinerary, so I doubt you'll be welcome to stay on until noon. Our tickets for disembarkation in Clarkston indicate both 8:00 & 9:00 AM so has to be somewhere around there.

hondorner Posted June 3, 2015 #4 Share Posted June 3, 2015 (edited) There has been an optional tour offered at the end of all of our American Queen cruises. The tour is in one of their buses, so your luggage is placed in one of the large "basement" compartments; you don't have to schlep it. We have only taken advantage of one, in Louisville, the tour took us around the city with a stop at the Kentucky Derby racetrack, where we had a guided tour of the grounds. You can choose whether to use your included hotel stay at the beginning or the end of the cruise. We were on a back-to-back ending in Louisville, so we had a hotel in Chattanooga before the cruise and a hotel in Louisville at the end of the cruise. We then rented a car and drove back to Chattanooga to pick up our RV. Just as a matter of interest, it took the boat 18 days to get from Chattanooga to Louisville, but it took just 5 hours to drive back to Chattanooga! You will have to leave the boat by 9:00am, as all the crew are busy preparing for the next cruise to board in just a few hours. daydreamcruiser Posted June 10, 2015 #5 Share Posted June 10, 2015 Just got off the Empress on Sunday. You are required to vacate your cabin no later than 8am so they can begin preparing for the new guests arrival.
Calliope Posted June 10, 2015 #6 Share Posted June 10, 2015 Can anyone tell me please how late you can stay on the boat? Our flight is not until 3:50pm from Portland, so we did not want to take the shuttle so early (7:45am) but just stay on the boat until maybe noon. The boat offered bus transport to Spokane after last week's voyage ended in Clarkston. For those wanting a tour of Spokane and drop off at the airport their flight had to leave after 3 PM. This tour left the boat at 7:30 on the dot, and was quite reasonably priced.
lake_wannabees Posted July 17, 2015 #7 Share Posted July 17, 2015 Do you leave your bags outside the doors the night before debarkation like they do on the ocean cruises? Or, is does everyone carry their own bags off. We're doing a transfer to the airport. Joyce
