Just off Conquest-my take as a Platinum at VIFP party

I was on the 4/26 Conquest sailing. Here is my view of the VIFP party.

We got there about 5 minutes before the party started. There was a very good crowd, but not

that it was overly crowded. The servers came by quite often with the drinks and snacks.

Actually, I thought of all the parties I have attended, this one had the most drinks. There were many servers.

One of my disappointments was that I asked for a glass of wine instead of the drinks.

I never received the wine;however, the man next to me got two glasses. I only asked once,

but was not to be.

I actually like that the golds attend because when it is crowded, it seems like more of a

party atmosphere. There was a lot of enthusiasm in the lounge.

The crew gave out beads as we entered the lounge;nice touch.

On the Breeze several months ago, they had 2 parties--one for the golds and one for the

platinums and diamonds.

All in all, I think they should keep the golds at the parties. After all isn't Carnival the Fun ships?

Happy Sailing!!

I agree with you about the Golds attending, the more the merrier! And I have also never experienced the really crowded conditions everyone is talking about. I've always gotten plenty to eat and drink at them.

I do think it depends on the cruise. Some sailings are heavy diamond and platinum. For example the Freedom repo cruise was loaded with diamond and platinum. There were at least two parties and the one I attended was very crowded. I am still gold and I know that hubby already I tend to look for different ports and I am sure those with higher status do as well.

I think the number of drinks you are able to get depends on the people around you. I'm Platinum and in several parties I've seen people take 2 or 3 drinks from the try instead of letting the server provide a drink to them. I like to have several drinks while I'm in the party like everyone else does, but no reason to be greedy about it.

On Conquest in February, a woman in front of us downed EIGHT beers in the first 30 minutes of the party. Any time a server walked by, she actually grabbed beer off the tray, almost toppling it from the servers' hands several times.

That's just greedy!

We tend to skip the parties. It's nice to hear from the Captain and Chief Crew members and we enjoy the free drinks. It's just hard to stop relaxing or doing what we are doing to get dressed and go. The parties can be fun, but sometimes it seem like a free for all just for the free drinks.

I only made it one before they took it away. That was last year on the Freedom. There was a nice crowd but totally not crowded. And plenty of servers and drinks available. Didn't see any beer. Only wine and whatever that special fu fu drink they were serving. Didn't care for the appetizers but my husband enjoyed them.

Same. Nine cruises since becoming platinum and we've never seen beer on the drink trays presented to us.

This was on the Ecstasy, Glory, Triumph x 3, Conquest, Imagination, Magic and Freedom.

Check out this video... At 1:30 sure looks like beer to me. I have seen it on Breeze and Glory..not a beer drinker so usually don't look for it

I believe you, I just see fruit drinks with cheap rum. Mix in a couple of wine glasses and there you go!

Every server had a variety of drinks on his/her tray: white wine, red wine, beer, and two different punches, plus non-alcoholic fruit punch. We've seen this on our past few cruises.

Same here.

My wife and I are beer drinkers and never had any problems getting them. Most times they have a beer and maybe two on their tray. We always politely ask for them.

We have had some parties where the servers come back with extra beers for us without asking. :)

With the latest news, we will miss the party on our next cruise, but will reach Platinum on the following one (we need 13 more days).

We did a B2B on Conquest this past January. Both parties were so packed that people were standing.

I'm Platinum and I think they should keep Gold in the party, BUT check invites to be sure only those that are entitled to the party are allowed in. I know that would be difficult, because so many are there when the doors open & just barrel on in!

Same here. Been to several past guest parties on 7 different ships. Never have seen beer served. Always some fruity/sugary/frothy drink. They actually pack some power too.

We r gold. We have been to several past guest parties. In March we each ordered a BBC frozen drink. The waiter brought them out when they were ready. And without asking for another, he brought us each another.

We gamble in the casino, and most of the wait staff know our faces, several by name. We always tip $1 per drink, and they r very attentive to us. :)

BTW we were sitting in the very middle of the row, and the party was moderately busy.

We should b platinum next year, so it will b interesting to see what happens. We will miss the atmosphere until then.
