Oh-But-Is-It Posted May 13, 2015 #1 Share Posted May 13, 2015 Spotted this on a review site ....... I would of sat and cried if it was me :( ...................................................... Suitcase Dropped Overboard On Loading. Cruise Line: Royal Caribbean Cruises Cruise Ship: Anthem of the Seas Destination: Europe Reviewed By: Houseman, Scarborough on 9th May 2015 Found the anthem great ship but found guest services bad , my suitcase was dropped into the sea on loading, ( they forgot to put some netting round the stack when lifting it aboard) which ok accidents happen, they did wash all the clothes and return them the following day , my suit had to got to be cleaned two times , also they managed to lose some of my shirts in the laundry , these were found after some complaining , but it took staff 4 days to sort it all out , I needed to buy new iPad and wife's hair straighteners , my suit is still salt stained and will be thrown away , I would have expected a company and ship of this size to have sorted out the problem immediately, not put me through 4 days of endless trips to customer services where I was told it will be all sorted this afternoon , which I got sick of hearing, this spoilt our holiday I wanted to relax and enjoy cruise , this was first time cruising ,not get stressed out by customer services failing to actually make decisions and try to palm me off with platitudes , Once it was sorted enjoyed rest of time aboard the ship staff were great , just customer service who let it all down, the entertainment was first class and once my problem was sorted out could relax and take it all in I really enjoyed the last half of the cruise , people on board were friendly and chatted away as if old friends at times, the North Star was scary but well worth the 30 min queue to get on it , view was fantastic , dynamic dining was good although slightly limited in its menus but cooked well ,. wales4ever Posted May 14, 2015 #2 Share Posted May 14, 2015 (edited) So the suitcase only fell into the water because it was a big ship? Didn't the Majesty have an accident a few years ago killing some crew? Was this because it was a small ship? Get real Edited May 14, 2015 by wales4ever . Little Nell Posted May 14, 2015 #3 Share Posted May 14, 2015 So the suitcase only fell into the water because it was a big ship? Didn't the Majesty have an accident a few years ago killing some crew? Was this because it was a small ship? Get real I don't think at any stage he said it was because it was a big ship and acknowledges that accidents can happen. He is understandably upset that he was fobbed off by customer service and is very complimentary otherwise.

This is a real 'Holiday Hell'. I can't imagine what I'd do if that was us. We always pack so that we have clothes for both of us in each case just incase one goes missing. If its all of your gear in a case which ends up over board then you really are stuck. I am surprised that they weren't given any onboard credit to spend in the shops or something - or am I being naïve?
davecttr Posted May 14, 2015 #5 Share Posted May 14, 2015 IIRC there was a incident wth Thomson a few years ago where someones suitcase pursued them around the med for a few days, always just missing the ship!. Apparently they got free excursions and a daily clothes allowance. I would have gone ballistic  Meanwhile i have a problem with my Britannia cruise, apparently the hamsters are on a go slow and we can only do 18 knots. :(
AJ28 Posted May 14, 2015 #6 Share Posted May 14, 2015 I found it interesting that there was an iPad and straighteners packed in the suitcase. I always take mine in hand luggage, (plus kindle and phone/chargers) they are too valuable to lose sight of. It is a measure of a good business how they feel with customers when things go wrong. Some years ago we went on an Airtours cruise and stay to Caribbean. Husbands informal suitcase went missing for cruise part (thankfully suit-case didn't) and he got money to buy replacement shorts and t's, and flipflops. Suitcase turned up for the 'stay' part of holiday, damp, scratched but clothes within ok.
