luv2cruise450 Posted September 17, 2005 #26 Share Posted September 17, 2005 M. Steve...I've cruised with HAL a bunch of times and I'm thinking that the caps that you speak of are the Dutch caps that are at your place setting in the dining room on 'Dutch' night. In the past if you did a bunch of the 'phys ed' type activities and you got your card stamped at the completion of the activity...you could 'redeem' them for various 'gifts/prizes'...i.e. let's say for 10 stamps you could redeem them for a water bottle. There were a bunch of different items you could redeem them for depending on how many stamps you earned. And as for the tiles...you will not get them on your first HAL cruise...but from your second HAL cruise on...you will get them in your stateroom. Hope this helps....happy sailing! Krazy Kruizers Posted September 17, 2005 #27 Share Posted September 17, 2005 We have quite a few tiles. It won't be long and we will be able to top our bar with them. The newer ones are thinner than the old ones, so we will have to use more grout.
Krazy Kruizers Posted September 17, 2005 #28 Share Posted September 17, 2005 m steve As a first time cruiser on HAL you will not get any tiles. You get them on your 2nd, 3rd, etc cruises because you will then be Mariner and that is one of the gifts. Caps - they used to have dutch hats and caps on the table on Dutch night - most of the ships have stopped doing that since there isn't a Dutch Night anymore. You will get a canvas bag with HAL logo on it in your cabin - either the first or second night. One per cabin. It is not very large but it is good for shopping and you can stuff a couple of beach towels in it.
elmorejj Posted September 17, 2005 #29 Share Posted September 17, 2005 A lot of times the servers will decorate one of the Dutch hats for you, especially if you`ve become friends with them. We have about a dozen decorated ones, beautifully done.........jean
Krazy Kruizers Posted September 17, 2005 #30 Share Posted September 17, 2005 Passport to Fitness was the program where you earned stamps in books which could be redeemed for prizes. There were lots of activities where you could earn the points - walk a mile, 1/2 hour on the treadmill, shuffle board contests, ring toss, golf putting, basketball toss, etc. There were even some heart healthy meals that earned a stamp. We got some really nice prizes - jackets, fleece vests, etc. That program was discontinued about 3 years ago.
