ClaudiaB Posted May 22, 2015 #26 Share Posted May 22, 2015 People - --- he's in a higher end suite. THOSE cabins have a real refrigerator. Have a great cruise, and I do hope your daughter has a great time and you find (or bring) some yogurt for her.
philpcruiser Posted May 22, 2015 Author #27 Share Posted May 22, 2015 Thank you, Claudia. I tried to indicate that without actually saying that :). We are really looking forward to the experience. And thanks to all for your helpful replies.
CruisingChick Posted May 29, 2015 #28 Share Posted May 29, 2015 Currently on Summit. Yogurt brand is Upstate Farms. So far they have had plain non fat, strawberry non fat, peach non fat and today they had cherry vanilla non fat yogurt also.
philpcruiser Posted May 29, 2015 Author #29 Share Posted May 29, 2015 Thank you, Cruising Chick. Upstate Farms??? Never heard of that brand, but it may work (flavors). How is your trip going? Saw some nasty showers on the Bermuda Port Cam. Looks a bit windy down there too.
jjmock Posted May 29, 2015 #30 Share Posted May 29, 2015 Having just sailed on Summit last week, my advice is to skip the yogurt and go for the gelato!
gergles Posted May 29, 2015 #31 Share Posted May 29, 2015 Upstate farms is a co-op, like Cabot.
CruisingChick Posted May 31, 2015 #32 Share Posted May 31, 2015 This morning they had strawberry banana as well as plain. Weather in Bermuda was very windy for 3 days that we were there with on and off rain downpours. Home now on the couch after going grocery shopping on the way home from the ship. philpcruiser Posted May 31, 2015 Author #33 Share Posted May 31, 2015 Thanks for the yogurt info. Sorry to hear the weather was less than ideal. Isn't it great how you can be back in your home so quickly after a cruise? (We just hate those journeys back home from the Florida ports).

I am guessing your cruise is coming up later this summer, but come back and let us know if you are successful at bringing on your own yogurt. sptrout Posted May 31, 2015 #35 Share Posted May 31, 2015 (edited) Slightly off topic, but if you want to read a very interesting and detailed report about yogurts, read "Culture Wars - Full Report" at the link below. Very eye opening; too bad that most yogurts are really no better than junk food, so bad that you may as well eat a candy bar, especially so-called "fruit" flavored varieties. After reading the report several weeks ago, I totally bypassed the yogurt stations during our last two cruises. http://www.cornucopia.org/yogurt/ Edited May 31, 2015 by sptrout
scubapro48 Posted May 31, 2015 #36 Share Posted May 31, 2015 I've been very disappointed that the only yogurts available are either non fat or have artificial sweeteners! Yukkk!!!! What ever happened to "natural" food??

Correct, late summer. Will report back on our success (or not).

It's sad how they fool you into thinking that the flavored yogurt is good for you. We'll be sticking to the plain yogurt and adding the fruit and granola.
