tdk1938 Posted May 18, 2015 #1 Share Posted May 18, 2015 I noticed that Western Caribbean route for Neiuw Amsterdam will call HMC and Grand Cayman (two of my favorite ports). Unfortunately they both are tender ports. Have anybody ever miss both ports due to bad weather? What's the probability of missing both ports? I'm thinking about going in December. Thanks. CruiserBruce Posted May 18, 2015 #2 Share Posted May 18, 2015 (edited) HMC is commonly discussed on the Private Islands board. The general consensus is a 20% miss rate for HMC, perhaps a little lower. December can have a number of misses, but this last winter season didn't hear about too many. We are 8 for 8 getting into HMC, including 3 visits in December (others in February, April, May). I will have to say the only worrisome visit we have had was in December. Have been to Cayman 3 times (December, April, May). No misses. I would have to think the chances of missing both on one cruise would have to be very low- 1 or 2%? bermuda triangle Posted May 18, 2015 #3 Share Posted May 18, 2015 On the NA the first week of Jan we were able to go ashore at both ports. It was a little windy and rocky to get on the tender for GC. I whacked my head because the tender moved, but was perfectly fine.
tdk1938 Posted May 18, 2015 Author #4 Share Posted May 18, 2015 It seems like the probability of missing both ports are very slim. That's good to know. :)
