dalwhitt Posted April 4, 2004 #1 Share Posted April 4, 2004 By the end of this year, I will have been on 10 cruises, including Royal Caribbean, Carnival, Disney and Norwegian. I'm planning on a Princess cruise next year, but I haven't booked it yet. Convince me that I should take a Princess cruise. What's so good -- and different -- about Princess? sue d. miller Posted April 4, 2004 #2 Share Posted April 4, 2004 I just took a cruise on The Golden in October. It was my first Princees cruise out of eight. It was the best service I have ever had. I didn't see one crew member that didn't speak, smile, or ask how we were enjoying our cruise. the food was wonderful, The shows were super, and the ship was so clean and kept that way. The embarcation, and disembarkation was a breeze. If you book a future cruise on board, it is omly $100.00 a person, and you have four years to use it. It is wonderful to cruise, but I felt so special. I can't wait till October for our next cruise on the Star. sue d. miller Posted April 5, 2004 #5 Share Posted April 5, 2004 Thank you, Mek. I was truly spoiled on the Golden. We all fell in love with the aft terrace and pool. When I found out they were not putting tables on the terrace, we switched from the Carribean to the Star. Can't wait. brucejr Posted April 5, 2004 #6 Share Posted April 5, 2004 You forgot to mention that you ALSO get future onboard credit for making that cheap deposit on a future cruise, plus it is fully refundable if for some reason you don't cruise within the 4 year time span. Making that future deposit is was really an no brainer for us. CruiseFever Posted April 5, 2004 #7 Share Posted April 5, 2004 Ditto Sue's comments. Our first Princess cruise was on the Golden last month and I concur with her observations. Also, as Bruice points out, they offer an opportunity to book onboard (you'll want to) that really is a no-brainer. Aquarian Posted April 5, 2004 #10 Share Posted April 5, 2004 I sailed Norwegian my first cruise. My husband and I sailed on Princess for cruise 2 and 3. We then tried Royal Caribbean for #4 and kept comparing it to Princess. We came right back to Princess for cruises 5, 6 and 7. The main thing I prefer about Princess is the restriction on the number of children on each cruise. There are children but they don't overrun the ship. Second, I think Princess food is much better than on both Norwegian and Royal Caribbean. Princess has personal choice dining which appeals to my husband and I because we can dine at a time that is convenient for both of us and we can choose to dine with others or by ourselves if we want a romantic dinner for two. It has been said that Royal Caribbean has better entertainment. My cruise on RCCL might have been the exception to the rule, but I did not find it better to Princess. On RCCL, we would find staff "visiting" with each other in the corridors and they did not acknowledge us as we passed. On Princess, we have found that the staff always stops whatever they are doing and smiles and says hello at the very least. Princess is a class act without being stuffy. sneekpeek Posted April 5, 2004 #11 Share Posted April 5, 2004 DALWHITT: Read my post "Emerald Deck on Diamond Princess" from 4/4/04. We were in the same situation. Have been on 4 other cruise lines, but never Princess. After our first Princess cruise we will never go back to any of the others. Their staff is outstanding. Everyone on the ship is treated like royalty. Every single staff member that you see or pass in the hall will speak to you. We wish we knew this years ago when we took our first cruise. brucejr Posted April 5, 2004 #12 Share Posted April 5, 2004 Freshwater pools that are open 24/7 The food in the Horizon court, at least on our Grand cruise, was way better than the Windjammer buffet on our RCI cruise in 2000, it is available 24/7 also. Aquarian Posted April 5, 2004 #13 Share Posted April 5, 2004 P.S. On Royal Caribbean, when we came back from an excursion and were hungry, all we could find was pizza, hot dogs and french fries. On Princess, there is always a great selection of food available.
ambullmom Posted April 6, 2004 #14 Share Posted April 6, 2004 I have been on two RCCL VOyager class ships and on the NOrwegian Dawn. LOoks like Princess will get my business for now on. I just returned from the March 28th sailing on the Grand Princess. It was the best cruise ever. The staff couldn't do enough for you and they were always upbeat and so friendly. From now on I will let Princess take me away.
kbt2 Posted April 6, 2004 #15 Share Posted April 6, 2004 We too are true Princess lover's also. Mostly for a lot of the reason's mentioned above...EXCELLENT food, super service, always a smile on everyone, clean, clean, clean...they take pride in their ships, yep...love the 24/7 fresh water pools/spas. They have I think better deck parties and just all in all we love them overall. LOL You won't go wrong taking them as a cruise.
