Transportation option from Seward to Anchorage

What are our choices to get from ship to Anchorage airport after we disembark on Aug 21st? Our flight does not leave until 8:30 pm. Appreciate any suggestions on how to spend the day.

You will have better luck if you post this question on the Alaska board. This topic has been discussed there many times so you may be able to find what you're looking for just by doing a search there.

Options include:

Alaska Railroad (6pm departure that allows you take a Kenai cruise during the day), Park Connection Bus (usually 2 departures per day), Seward Busline, cruiseline transfer, independent transfer, Hertz rental car.

We just got back from Alaska a little over a week ago...

Since we arrived late the night before to Anchorage (We were on a "Southbound" cruise, so we started in Seward and our drive was Anchorage to Seward), we opted to avoid the train--they want you to check in at the station VERY early...

Instead, we went with Seward Bus lines...For $60 per person, they picked us up at our hotel at a very reasonable 9:00 am--and punctually, it was 9:00 am on the dot when they arrived...

We had six people in our van (plus the driver) and they gave us a little bit of a tour including a nice stop at the Wildlife Preserve--where I got some great animal photos...and then got us to the ship at 1:00 pm...

We intentionally booked a late flight out of ANC post-cruise (departs at 11:30pm) to enable us to do some touring that day.

 

We ended up booking an excursion through the cruise line including a kenai fjords cruise (5 hours), the sea life centre (about 2 hours), some time in town, and a bus transfer from Seward to ANC. It's a 12.5 hour excursion so likely too long for you given your earlier flight, but it may be worth checking in to your cruise line's offerings!

 

I believe others have also mentioned private companies that offer similar tours with the airport transfer (or ones that ensure you'll arrive back at the train in time!). Hopefully they'll chime in as well.
