wrennies Posted May 25, 2015 #1 Share Posted May 25, 2015 Our cruise visits 4 ports and as I schedule our excursions, the budget is getting low. What are some nice things to do in San Juan for not a lot of money. Thanks in advance!
spidybabe Posted May 25, 2015 #2 Share Posted May 25, 2015 When will you be there? You can easily do the forts on your own, very walkable or there is a tram around town. You can do Bacardi Rum factory on your own. Safe sailing
zqvol Posted May 25, 2015 #3 Share Posted May 25, 2015 Visit the forts and wander Old Town.
Rare Lois R Posted May 26, 2015 #4 Share Posted May 26, 2015 I agree. You don't even need to do a tour in San Juan.
Traveling Library Posted May 26, 2015 #5 Share Posted May 26, 2015 No tour is needed. Go see both forts. Buy a "combination" ticket for both sites. Old Town is fairly small and walkable. Warning from the in-town port both forts are uphill. Take your time and hydrate and you'll be fine.

RayInPR Posted May 27, 2015 #8 Share Posted May 27, 2015 Don Q in Old San Juan closed months ago. As has the Rums of Puerto Rico tasting bar inside the Puerto Rico Tourism Info Center.
spidybabe Posted May 28, 2015 #9 Share Posted May 28, 2015 Unfortunately Don Q in OSJ has closed:mad: We know and are so disappointed. We went to the original Don Q in '79 on our honeymoon...up the hill with a great quaint wooden bar. We have visited every time we have been in OSJ. Never loved the new Don Q, but enjoyed the drinks and stopping there. On our last cruise.....no Don Q anymore. Safe sailing
