Self Disembarkment time Southampton

Probably this has been asked and answered before but since it didn't apply to us at the time, we paid little or no attention. So, sorry if this has been covered.

We will be disembarking at Southampton. We were originally going to take Princess transfer to London for post cruise stay but our plans have changed a little. We have friends in Southampton that are going to meet us to spend the day together and then we will take a train to London later in the day. So, my question is this:

Seems best to just leave the ship with our luggage/self disembark. With this plan will we still be required to leave the ship at a designated time? We would probably prefer to wait until the end so we are not out on the curb too early. Will Princess allow us to hang back and leave towards the end? If so, any idea around what time that would be? We dock at 5am.

Thanks for any help you can give us.

If you stay what can they do? Make you stay onboard for the next cruise?

Just disembark when you like. We did the same before we headed to my Aunts home just outside of London. We ended up leaving around 9:30 with our luggage. ;)

Sure you can leave at last call. However you will be dragging your bags around while you wait..

Why not turn in your bags the night before as normal and just request a 9 :30 departure ticket. It is much easier to meet a car service or other ride later. We did it too.

Good point, so we don't need to hide behind a potted plant? Disembarkation squad will not be looking for us? Thanks.

Makes sense as we would not expect to hang out in our cabin. So, just asking for the latest departure time should be doable.

Just got off the Royal Princess in Southampton on Saturday. Wish I had known some of this info before! Self disembarkation was 6 am, 6:15, or 6:30 am. We chose 6:30 am. As we were walking along Deck 7 there was a spot there to get off. The staff said we could just get off then without going to whatever lounge area. We asked if we could hang back a bit and they said yes. We sat for around 15 minutes and then left. When we got past the place where the luggage area was there was an area with a lot of seats with people waiting for their rides or tours. We had a tour that was picking us up to sightsee and then take us to our hotel in London. We were supposed to be ready between 8:00 am and 8:20 am (hence getting up real early to make sure we didn't miss them. Didn't know how long customs etc would take). We were out there by 7 am. Sat around and chatted with people.

For you… if you are out too early don't worry as there is plenty of space for you to sit with your luggage and wait (and rest rooms too!).

Thanks. Did you do the transfer with International Friends? We are doing a transfer with them from Heathrow on Embarkation day and it is via Stonehenge. If you used the same, were you happy with them?

Yes, we did use International Friends. I highly recommend them. Our guide was Tony and he was great.

Thanks. We thought this would be a great way to get to the ship and also get in a little sightseeing. Always wanted to see Stonehenge. If we get Tony we will tell him he got good reviews!

You'll be given the disembarking paperwork mid cruise. Put in writing you have a late pickup. And request either the time you want or general comment like "please assign us to one of the last 3 groups". When you get your assignment and luggage tags, if it's not what you wanted, the front desk is happy to give you the change. It's easy.
