Dream update

Recommended Posts

Just a brief update after our return from latest cruise prior to a full a report which may help some for the coming weeks.

Our outside plus cabin has had a small refurb, new bath and loo, we know because we always have the same cabin, sad I know. They have stopped supplying toiletries and no shower cap, the wife say's that's important to know, you can ask and they will supply.

Theatre all new furnishings as with Oceans sorry Tides and they haven't moved the stage as was muted and shown in brochure, waters edge all new furnishings coffee port very good even though you have to pay 50% but we think its worth it.

Enjoyed the two new eateries, the hot stone being quite an experience.

New caterers and we found an improvement but we never had any problems in the past.

Sun lounge nice improvement only problem was that guests move the furniture round which can be a problem but we were informed that they are being fixed as on the Celebration which should resolve the problem.

Great cruise (again) and I think the ship has been improved only down side we had was the sea force 10 all day Sunday and again on Thursday for 16 hours:eek: even the staff had problems but we only missed one meal:p.

I dare say some old sea dog will tell me that's nothing too what they have encountered but its the worst we have experienced in nearly 50 cruises

Any questions just ask :):)

Roger

Pleased to hear you had a good time. We are on thr Dream for two weeks from 6 June. We were wondering what the entertainment team were like at the present time(the last time we were onboard they were very poor) and which entertainers were in the various bars. Also did you dock in Barcelonia -we are trying to get some DIY ideas together and the Thomson time doesn't match with the port schedule. Thanks

Hi Ashby

We found entertainment team ok, singing great particularly Matt probably just one weak singer, dancing good but problem is we have seen all the shows in the past and you tend to compare with the best and this new team are a bit off with timing but saying that it was a bit rough some nights and they held it together well.

Think you will have one of the best duo's, in our opinion, on the Thomson seen that is 2 Intense, if you haven't seen them look up on you tube under t'2 Intense Thomson Cruise'.

Unfortunately 'Tunesmith' and 'Strum Jam' left with us so no help who replaced them sorry.

Keith Kerslake is very good in the Delo bar and they all came together fot the Dream Band Jam on the last night which was great.

So overall entertainment was very good the CD and ACD not great but ok this could be down to a new post of entertainments manager being introduced and working the entertainers longer shifts.

We did not stop at Barcelona but Palmaris which is a nice port, depends were you dock at Barcelona if its the trade fair you can just walk in in not you will have to catch a bus.

Have a great time

Roger

Now back to watch the Villa:(:(

O am so pleased you had such a good time. The <ajesty also had liquid shower gel. I don't mind this cause it was the cheapest toiletries plus it also cuts down on waste of plastic bottles etc. My husband prefers the built in dispensers as he hates faffing around trying to unscrew wee botttles of this and that! More and more hotels these days are switching to dispensers.

Not one of my specialist subjects but I know they do 'mock tails' and also the frozen drinks are ok, iced coffee is another drink which I like when its particularly hot and I don't want alcohol (which is not very often) if you do like coffee the new 'coffee port' serves Lavazza coffee which you will get 50% off and its very nice.

Hope someone else my be able to help better than me.

Have a great time:)

there is not a huge choice of non alcoholic other than soft drinks by the glass & fruit juice(s)

there's a supplement for irn bru, red bull, j2o (and bottles of water)

there is a selection of non alcoholic cocktails

they do a mock-tail of the day... virgin daiquiri's/colada's

lattes, cappuccinos & hot chocolate are free on ai (from the bars)

they have becks non alcoholic beer but there is a supplement for that

hope this helps

It does seem as though these cruises are aimed at serious drinkers, and a supplement on N/A drinks just seems peverse,....I enjoy a glass[sarc] of wine, but dare not keep getting "topped up" and on the other hand I dont want to spend the evening drinking micky mouse cocktails either...AI Drinks package wasted on us,rather have had a few hundred knocked off the cost,so the temptation wasn't there...just hope I dont get seduced by all that free booze LOL...Thanks

tbh... imo there is a lot of pressure generally (in our culture) to engage with drinking? i have lost count of the amount of times i have been happily sitting in the pub with my little glass of orange juice when someone has offered...' go on have a proper drink... enjoy yourself?' does make you feel a little as if for some reason? you have set yourself apart from the drinkers:confused:

if i were to say 'go on have an orange juice...its healthy and cheaper'... well you can imagine the response?:p

anyway

letus not turn this into a drinking thread... whatever people enjoy is up to them:cool:

on deck 9 (dream)

deck 9 is on the promenade, you will have one way glass in your window, people will be milling about outside, they put put rows of sunbeds during the day, if you leave the curtains open at night and the lights on people outside can see in (bear that in mind) the view is not really obstructed by the ships rail but there are some davits, the lifeboats are suspended one deck higher so you will only see the bottom of them

higher decks sway more in choppy conditions but the dream is a very stable ship so that shouldn't be a problem

deck 9 is very convenient for the lido all the other venues are down one flight of stairs on deck 8 (you may hear some noise from the medusa bar/waters edge disco if your cabin is above it)
