Can I take/use my own snorkel equipment on a ship's shore excursion or must I use the equipment provided by the tour operator?

I believe that most tour operators would allow you to use your own equipment. I've seen folks bring their own...

Anytime we take an excursion we always use our own equipment.

No way am I sticking a nasty snorkel in my mouth after many others.

I have always used my own and never have had an issue with an operator. My mask has prescription lenses in it and really prefer not to use a snorkel that has been in someone else's mouth....even if it has been sanitized....I think.

You can take your own equipment on snorkeling tours whether ship sponsored or private sponsor. I would recommend taking your own mask and snorkel but using their fins. The fins are large and bulky to carry. If you are concerned about who wore them last, wear a water sock or thin water shoe. Masks vary in size and one size certainly does not fit all. An ill-fitting mask can ruin a snorkeling trip so get one that fits at home. Best place is a SCUBA dive shop as they will help you pick a mask that fits your face.
