2910car Posted June 9, 2015 #1 Share Posted June 9, 2015 We are doing the holy land eastern med cruise followed by a transatlantic on the Celebrity Silhouette. Our turnaround is Rome. For any of you who have done something similar, wondering if they will offer some tour of Rome and back to the ship. The shore excursions seem to end at the airport or hotel. We have been to Rome twice already, but still don't want to spend the day just sitting on the ship. Unless there is something to do in Civitavecchia. Rare cruisemom42 Posted June 9, 2015 #2 Share Posted June 9, 2015 Your cruise line may offer such a tour -- generally these are not made available until you are actually onboard for the first cruise. Alternatively, since you've been to Rome before (and presumably are at least a little familiar with it), why not take the train on your own to Rome and see a few things? It's very easy, especially when not toting luggage.
CathyCruises Posted June 9, 2015 #3 Share Posted June 9, 2015 Or you could take a local bus to Tarquinia, which is not far away and has excellent ruins from what I'm told.
