Reserving a specific table with MTD

My sister recently got off the Splendor OTS. They were told that all the nice tables had been specifically reserved, and all that was left were tables near the wait stations. They were further told that moving to a doff errant dining time wouldn't matter, as everything had been pre reserved. We can't find out how to do that. Does anyone have any tips on reserving a specific table with MYD?

I emailed rcldining@rccl.com 50 days prior to sailing. It worked with set dining time. Don't know about MTD. They were very prompt with their reply.

You can certainly try emailing them, but most likely you'll have to ask once onboard. Usually only D+ and Pinnacle members can request specific locations, and some large groups can get specific locations but it's not always a guarantee. If you ask onboard though they're usually pretty great about it and will try to accommodate you as best as they can.

We are only D. Told them we have several celebrations and first cruise as Diamond. Wanted a table by the window. They replied quickly and also included a diagram of the dining room tables showing our table by the window.

The first stop on going aboard is to meet the maitre de. We are courteous and reconfirm our MTD reservation. Sometimes they will have us confirmed for the wrong time. We also reconfirm our request for a small table, that is six or fewer.

 

We go on board early in the day. We try to be among the first group to go aboard.

 

It is always a disaster the first night in MTD. People line up at 6 p.m. to make their dinner reservation.

 

We push our way in and greet the maitre de. People tell us to wait in line. The maitre d greets us and takes us to our table.

 

This has worked on more than 4 cruises.

BTBs sound like so much fun, I haven't planned one yet but once I can get time off to do it I will. Are you going to have the same cabin both legs?

When you first get on the ship go to the MTD location in the dining room. They usually start taking reservation changes around 1pm. Confirm your reservation time, and then ask to see the type of table you want. They will allow you to walk around and look at the tables, if necessary. Go back and confirm a table number you want for THAT EVENING.

 

After dinner the first night, if you like the table and the servers, make reservations for it for every night. You may have to adjust your time a little if it's reserved before your preferred time.

 

We have a table for two on all our cruises, and MTD is the best way to get one, so this is our routine on every cruise.

 

By the way, all the ships we've been on have two lines when entering for dinner: one with reservations and one without. We've experienced a lot of people trying to get in the dining room if it's a busy time, but there are always two lines.
