Dizziedi Posted June 10, 2015 #1 Share Posted June 10, 2015 Earlier this morning the Captain advised that we would be getting into Sydney around 1.30am tomorrow/Thursday due to a very sick passenger. We have now been informed that we are awaiting a medical evacuation by helicopter. We were told off Newcastle but it looks like it might actually be off Port Macquarie. The helicopter is due at 2.30pm. The ship is now due to arrive (or pick up the Pilot) at 5.30am. Di

Kiwi Kruzer Posted June 10, 2015 #3 Share Posted June 10, 2015 Just had a look at FlightRadar site and it looks like a RSCU plane is flying out from the coast in that area. Wonder if that is involved in the evacuation? The ship is not showing up on Marine Traffic as yet. it is showing Out of Range.

Dizziedi Posted June 10, 2015 Author #6 Share Posted June 10, 2015 We think it is a Coast Guard plane - it has been flying around for about an hour now. The weather is changing quite dramatically and the seas are getting higher so I hope they get this poor person off asap. This ship is still doing 18 knots. Dizziedi Posted June 10, 2015 Author #8 Share Posted June 10, 2015 Mission now complete. The reason it took so long is because of strong winds and the rescue chopper had to go back and refuel. Let's hope the passenger is okay. Cheers Di
