Sailing Grandma Posted June 24, 2015 #1 Share Posted June 24, 2015 Has anyone used the VAS, the water shuttle from the Marco Polo Airport to your hotel in Venice? This is a shared shuttle and the price seems reasonable and it seems more convenient than taking the bus to Venice and then the vaporetto to your hotel. Thanks for your help. Sailing Grandma Posted June 27, 2015 Author #2 Share Posted June 27, 2015 This is also called the Alilaguna, if that helps.
Rare Hlitner Posted June 27, 2015 #3 Share Posted June 27, 2015 It can be convenient depending on your hotel's location vis-a-vis the nearest Alilaguna Blu Line stop. Just keep in mind it is a long hike from the terminal down to the Alilaguna pier (at the airport) and it is a very slow boat. Personally, we always were happy just talking the fast and comfy ATVO express bus to the Piazale Roma. This is one reason why we love to stay in Ca Doge. Sailing Grandma Posted June 27, 2015 Author #4 Share Posted June 27, 2015 Thanks, Hank. We are staying at a hotel near San Marco and are a little concerned about taking our luggage on the vaporetto once we get off the ATVO bus. We will each have a medium-sized suitcase plus a small carry-on.
diane.in.ny Posted June 27, 2015 #5 Share Posted June 27, 2015 We have taken the airport water shuttle from the Fondamenta Nove stop which was convenient to our hotel. It was an easy walk to the airport from where it docked. CathyCruises Posted June 27, 2015 #7 Share Posted June 27, 2015 We have used Alilaguna to and from the airport several times, works great. The walk to the pier from the terminal is a few hundred flat yards, mostly under cover, and luggage carts are available. Mind you, it's not as fun as a water taxi, but a lot less money. Unless you can find folks to share with. We just hung out by the water taxi desk in the terminal and asked if anyone wanted to share, sure enough met a lovely couple and had a great ride at half price, about €50 each couple. Earl Rosebery Posted June 28, 2015 #9 Share Posted June 28, 2015 Sharing is normal even if 2 separate hotels. The alilaguna is sloooow especially after an overnight flight. You won't be sorry if you go by water taxi.
