Yoshikitty Posted August 6, 2015 #51 Share Posted August 6, 2015 It's allowed and many passengers do it. Don't worry.
Scriv Posted August 6, 2015 #52 Share Posted August 6, 2015 (edited) Thanks Yoshikitty! We are disembarking in Hamburg where you are - sadly with only a few hours to visit it, but will be having a longer stay in Hamburg at New Year. balf Posted August 6, 2015 #53 Share Posted August 6, 2015 ,the original posting relates to 'Cunard Line'. Auto gratuities (if left in place ) covers 'all aspects' of the white star service. That's why Cunard don't put kettles in the staterooms. :) Applies equally to P&O who do, although they don't call it White Star Service. The reason they do is because they are selling mainly to British passengers who like to drink their tea freshly made with boiling water. And if you've ever sampled room service tea on any cruise line you have to say they have a point. David.
electra2008 Posted August 6, 2015 #54 Share Posted August 6, 2015 What slip were you trying to sign electra ? Not too sure what you mean ? No slips to sign for room service on Cunard . :) The "receipt" that comes with the tray order slip!
electra2008 Posted August 6, 2015 #55 Share Posted August 6, 2015 (edited) Just wanted to know if it was allowed or 'not the done thing'? I want to be au fait with the 'rules' and the 'etiquette' :) Yes we do and many others do take a tea with us sometimes, making sure its not too full so it slops over. If you want to fill your water bottle please make sure you do not put the bottle opening under the tap, most seem to use a cup and then pour it into bottle, also do not refill your coffe/ tea cup get new cup germs, cross contamination. Scriv Posted August 6, 2015 #56 Share Posted August 6, 2015 (edited) I would of course naturally follow these rules of common sense and hygiene .. and in any case I would never fill up a water bottle at the tap. Yoshikitty Posted August 7, 2015 #57 Share Posted August 7, 2015 Thanks Yoshikitty! We are disembarking in Hamburg where you are - sadly with only a few hours to visit it, but will be having a longer stay in Hamburg at New Year. Welcome, Scriv ;) Hamburg is always worth a visit. So you are disembarking in Hamburg and go straight to the airport? Let us know when you are there, maybe we can meet for a Cappuccino?
Scriv Posted August 7, 2015 #58 Share Posted August 7, 2015 Unfortunately yes, disembarking and straight to the airport. This was a short cruise as a Queen Elizabeth birthday experience for my OH. But at New Year we will have more time so if you are around, a Capuccino would be great.
