Rare Coral Posted April 10, 2004 #1 Share Posted April 10, 2004 Toto, Welcome back! How was the Sun Princess? We are anxious to see the mini-suite/suite pictures (when you have time to sort through them). At the Capt Circle reception - did they make any new announcements about the fleet (besides the Royal leaving, the Sea Princess coming back and movie screens on Grand/Golden/Star?) Thanks! -Coral
Toto2Kansas Posted April 10, 2004 #2 Share Posted April 10, 2004 Thanks for the welcome home Coral. Haven't even found the camera yet so it might be a few days until I can get things together on this end. Took a bunch of pics of the cabin and especially the plus and minus places in it. Arrived home to a houseful of family visiting from another state so they have kept us jumping, took this opportunity while they were out for a few minutes to check email and boards. Promise I will get those pics posted as soon as I get a free moment. Just a little info about the Sun AC mini suites before I go. Lovely room with a couple drawbacks. Jacuzzi tub and shower in second bathroom area are wonderful, all done in marble, jacuzzi is olympic depth which really gives you room to lay back and relax, but the sink/stool area were designed for children I think with about an 11 inch space (or possibly less) between the potty and the door. Can't tell you how many times I ran into the stool trying to get through that little tiny room. A permanent bruise is on my leg. lol These minis would be difficult for a large person IMHO as there really are some small spaces like the area mentioned above and the walk in closet. Hubby has large shoulders and could barely get into the closet area which was quite tiny with minimal storage. Another thing that surprised me was that there are only two very tiny triangle shaped shelves in the AC minis bathroom area. Not enough room for hardly anything. Not even a shelf under the sink. Thankfully I had packed my hanging shower organizer that could hang on the wall BEHIND the door as that is the only place that it would hang up, there are no hooks at all except in the tub area, not even on the back of the doors. Anyone booked in an AC on the Sun Class, please take something to organize your bathroom things as even in the dressing table, there is very little room for makeup or other items (dressing table has one wide drawer about 1 1/2" deep). Balcony is about 3 1/2 foot wide and approx 30 feet long. Narrow but enough room for two pull out lounge chairs and small table with two chairs. It is also totally covered. Only other negative thing is that anyone that might want the beds seperated into twins would have to block the second entrance to the balcony while the beds are seperated, best to keep them pushed together for added space. Other than those minor problems, the cabin was great. We ended up with around 16 (or was it 18?) people in it for a surprise birthday party for hubby, all CC members of coarse. Really enjoyed the location of this cabin B404 as it was right next to the elevators and easy to find, and we heard absolutely no noise from the hallway at all. We were thanked dozens of times by other passengers as we had a sign on our door which they could view from the elevators. They told us that it made it so much easier to find which side of the ship they were on so that they could go straight to their cabins. lol Best room steward we have ever had, Susanna, she was a miracle woman and even assisted in the planning of the surprise party which turned out perfectly. Will attempt a lengthy review next week for those that will be sailing on her in the future. Never even attended the Captains Circle party this time or even the welcome aboard cocktail party we missed, so no info about ships we can pass along, sorry. We were too busy on those nights. lol One more note, casino for the gamblers out there is very very old. Slot machines are ancient and some only take tokens. Lost the first 9 days but hit several jackpots the last afternoon and evening to re-coop all the losses plus a lot more. That ended the trip on a great note. Lots of positives about the cruise along with the negatives posted. Will try to hit all the highs and lows in a review soon. Passenger ratio was about 1% kids and teens, 35% 21 to 60 and the rest were well over retirement age with many many walkers, canes, wheel chairs and electric scooters. One thing that does is to make the elevators hard to catch as the passengers are much slower getting in and out and some were very confused about finding their way around the ship for the entire 10 days. More later when I find my brain. ROFL One last note. Not one drop of rain the entire trip, and only one day that it was cloudy. The most perfect weather and calmest seas we have ever had on a 10 day Caribbean Cruise. Also have a new email for a private tour of St. Vincent that is wonderful, inexpensive and fun. With some great tour operators that I will post as soon as I locate it in this mess. lol Thanks again for the welcome back Coral. Toto2Kansas Posted April 10, 2004 #7 Share Posted April 10, 2004 Richard, no need for a flashlight, there is a light in the walk in closet, sorry if I sounded like there was not. Just make sure to walk in side ways if you have large shoulders. lol Glad that I could assist in the hanging organizer, you will be very glad you got it in that suitcase! Can't wait to hear what you have to report on this mini suite! And have a great time. SFParrtHd Posted April 12, 2004 #12 Share Posted April 12, 2004 Hey ToTo: My wife and I have Baja755 booked for a future cruise. How would you say that these Aft mini suites match up with the one you had? Bob and Dona
Toto2Kansas Posted April 12, 2004 #13 Share Posted April 12, 2004 SF,sure wish I could help but I did not visit any of the AB category suites on this sailing. But I know someone that has booked them before and they are great, he said. The balcony is huge compared to the AC's midship and the stateroom is a bit larger also. If you look at the pics I have posted on another thread here, just picture that stateroom a bit larger with a huge balcony. The 360* views on the Internet are not the design that is used for the mini suites, not quite sure why every site seems to show the wrong layout in the 360*'s, but those views are totally worthless?
