Looking at booking for New Years. They have acouple early saver specials through Monday. How does that work on if there are any price drops. Do I have to check the website every day...... I am sure they won't send me an email saying hey here's some free OBC. How long will they match the lower price?

Thanks in advance !!

Mary

PS) normally I book through a compete website as they always seem to have a better price than what Carnival will give me. Where do you get your best prices?

I use the Carnival fare viewer page. I knoww it's kind of a pain in the you know what to check for price drops. I always join Roll calls they're extremely helpful to you if you have early saver. This year they helped me catch 2 price drops. With the fare viewer site you don't have to do a mock booking every day, just enter you info and compare the price you paid to the price that's listed for your category. If the fare viewer has it listed cheaper you may qualify for a price drop.

Here's the link:

You can sign up to be notified of price drops through Cruise Critic. Every week they will send you an e-mail informing you of price drops depending on the length and category you book. Then you can use Fare Viewer if you need more specific info. That will eliminate the need for you to check on a daily basis. I have two cruises booked and receive info on both.

Good luck and happy cruising!!!

Really, I have seen better prices on "other sites" but after you upgrade to a specific cabin, they are usually the same as Carnival's website.

I know you can't tell here, but I would really like to know a cheaper site for the same booking.

I have booked ES on an upcoming cruise. I did it the hard way and kept an eye on the price myself. However the 2 times I did find it less expensive and sent off a request, I was declined due to having on board credit. I therefore had to call and go through each step with an agent before getting the credit I believed I was entitled to.

I clicked the link to compare the prices. Is there a reason the price is $1708 for the cruise there but when I book thru carnival website it's over $1900 ?? Why can't they just give me the better price? That frustrates me 😡

If you do book ES for your New Year's cruise, you will be able to get price drops up till 2 days before you sail. We booked ES & price dropped to Military in order to receive a special offer of $100 OBC for Military Appreciation Month. I check fairviewer everyday & at least once a week check the Carnival website as Military does not show up on Fairviewer.

This is just an FYI for anyone who is a current Military or a veteran.

Like so many things in life you have to compare apples to apples and oranges to oranges. The fare viewer will give you the base price before taxes and port fees. Often times people will see that price and compare it to their total and then submit a price drop. Which of course is denied.

Also, someone correct me if I am wrong, but I thought Carnival did not allow anyone to offer a lower price. I know sometimes TA will block a group of rooms and lock in a price so that when Carnival's price goes up they (TA) can offer it at a "lower" price. TA's can also, out of their commission, send you things like strawberries or champagne.

Also, to the OP yes you will have to vigilant with possible price drops. I have checked in the morning before work and upon checking again at lunch find a lower price. By after work the price has gone back up. It usually doesn't go that quickly but it has happened.

Is your $1900 you see on the website your total price?

The price you see on the FAIRVIEWER is just the CRUISE PRICE before port/taxes are added. That is what you need to be price matching to.

Fair viewer is good, but also don't forget to LOG ON to Carnival and check to see if your cruise is eligible under any VIFP special offers assigned to you. You will only see these VIFP "Special offers" if logged on with your VIFP/ past guest # entered. Those will NOT show up on the fair-viewer. So Fair viewer technically is not the "Lowest current price" you personally may be eligible for.

I have already booked ES, and found a LOWER price on FV and price matched. Then the same cruise popped up on my personal VIFP offers for a $200 cheaper CASINO RATE and was also able to match to that.

NOTE: If you book during one of the 1/2 off deposit specials then price match later you will need to have your 100% deposit paid at that time. The 1/2 off deposit only prolongs when it needs to be paid under the sale, once you change to a NEW RATE your terms also change and the full deposit is due.

There are websites out their that will MONITOR your sailing for you. A quick google search and you will see.

For a nominal fee you can have an alert sent via email or text when your particular category price drops below what you booked at.

Much easier than checking everyday, imho.

When OBC is involved with the new fare offer their system can't seem to handle it.

ie the offer includes a $50 OBC but the cabin rate is the same as you currently have or it has increased slight, say $20, then you get the denial e-mail when you should get the price drop. As soon as I get the denial e-mail I call to sort it out.

Putting the scenario in the additional info block on the price protection form does nothing as their system looks at your booking number, current total price, and the total price you found and then automatically sends the denial.

It helps to keep a screen shot of the new fare (and conditions ie OBC) and a screen shot of the price protection submittal form before I send it. Especially when you call and let them know you have screen shots.
