Time change in europe??

Recommended Posts

Going on Rhapsody Greek Isles in September. I am planning tours. Do we stay on ships time at the ports, or do we change?

Click on your departure port (which will be Rome (Civitavecchia) to see what time it is and then move to each port after that to see what the time change will be http://www.timeanddate.com/time/map/ When you arrive in Rome (Civitavecchia) you will be 6 hours ahead of Ohio time.

From what I can see, once you depart Civitavecchia, you will lose another 2 hours before you get to Turkey, so you will definitely be on local time as you arrive at each port.

Thanks for the info. In the Caribbean, the ship honors the ship's time, not the local. Good to hear you follow local time for each port. :)

The Captain and input from the Hotel Director determine the time you will follow. Check the cruise compass!

Everyone on this thread is correct when they were in the Med. Do not assume your cruise will be the same.

You're right in that the OP should check the daily Cruise Compass.

However, we have never been on a cruise "anywhere" that with a difference of 2 hours, the ship did not go on local time.

On our b2b on Legend through the PC this past April, we gained 3 hours by the time we reached San Diego. However, there were several days once we reached the Pacific side when we gained an hour and then lost it the next day and then gained it back the third day. Each time, we changed out clocks to coincide with local time.

Hi Patti,

No argument here. We were on a Greek Isles cruise out of Barcelona that only changed one hour. But we have been on other Caribbean cruises where the time did not change at all. I agree 2 hours will be adjusted, but one hour may not.

Check your cruise compass, or book your excursion thru RCI and don't worry.
