Starboard or Port for Glacier Bay, RT San Francisco

any thoughts on which is the better side?

We do Inside Passage on the trip "back" down to SF, does that matter?

 

what about Glacier Bay itself, is one side better than the other?

IF you are ONLY are going to view Glacier Bay from your balcony- you need a port side- which gets the first glacier views with the commentary matching up.

Was just in Glacier bay on the Star Princess. It did not make any difference.

When the ship got to Glacier bay, it did several 'spins' so both sides got great views.

Your "spin" claim, doesn't account for commentary on the way in, and the 2 glaciers you sailed by.

But you may not be able to hear the commentary on your balcony. You really should be up on deck where you can move around, and hear. You are looking for calving...the largest may occor when your side of the ship is not facing the glaciers. EM

I don't ever go to the crowded "top" decks. I like the lowest, open deck, and some ships may have a bow that people just can't find easily. :)
