Chenega Posted July 30, 2015 #1 Share Posted July 30, 2015 (edited) For those whose cruise ship may arrive and/or depart from the port of Whittier, here's a great article that the CNN website published today: http://www.cnn.com/interactive/2015/07/us/whittier-alaska-american-story/ Edited July 30, 2015 by Chenega

Chenega Posted July 30, 2015 Author #3 Share Posted July 30, 2015 It truly is! If you ever take a cruise to or from Whittier, take some time to walk around. Won't take more than an hour. It is a great starting point for day cruises into Prince William Sound. Try a salmon-spread bagel at the Lazy Otter Inn, have some fish and chips at Varley's Swiftwater Restaurant, and check out the small museum in the Anchor Inn. CowPrincess Posted July 31, 2015 #5 Share Posted July 31, 2015 For those whose cruise ship may arrive and/or depart from the port of Whittier, here's a great article that the CNN website published today: http://www.cnn.com/interactive/2015/07/us/whittier-alaska-american-story/ Thanks so much for that link! We saw another online video about Whittier just before this year's cruise to Alaska, and were moved by it. This one was even more moving. Thanks again! Chenega Posted July 31, 2015 Author #6 Share Posted July 31, 2015 (edited) I had noticed that the cruise brochures say very little about the port of Whittier. Most people that go there for a cruise often have a very quizzical look on their faces :). Edited July 31, 2015 by Chenega
