CNN Article and Video on Whittier, Alaska

It truly is! If you ever take a cruise to or from Whittier, take some time to walk around. Won't take more than an hour. It is a great starting point for day cruises into Prince William Sound.

 

Try a salmon-spread bagel at the Lazy Otter Inn, have some fish and chips at Varley's Swiftwater Restaurant, and check out the small museum in the Anchor Inn.

I had noticed that the cruise brochures say very little about the port of Whittier. Most people that go there for a cruise often have a very quizzical look on their faces :).
