Did I make the wrong choice-breakaway?

Recommended Posts

Am I crazy or did they do away with the charge for room service? People keep mentioning it- I thought they backtracked on that.

No, they backed off on telling people they couldn't bring food back to their room, which coincidentally coincided with the room service charge.

Oh right, my bad. So what is it, 7 bucks or something? Honestly Carnival's room service food is SO BAD and my last five cruises were on CCL so I've given up on room service anyway.

Thank you all for your replies. You all have valid points. I know the fireworks missing won't ruin my vacation I was just kind of looking forward to it. Also sailing on NCL wasn't my first choice but I decided to try it to avoid flight costs. I would have rathered sail RCL because they have a kids program for my daughter and she is too young for the NCL one. So I don't know how much time I'll get to spend in the spa or casino. I am sure we will have a good time, I guess it's just so much to think about

I will be sailing on the breakaway on Nov 8th with my husband and our 19 month old daughter. I don't have a lot of cruising experience but I have sailed both the Allure and the Disney Dream. I'm starting to get frustrated with the the little things about this cruise, no fireworks, charge for room service, not to mention the increase in gratuities and shore excursion pricing:( I am still hoping it's going to be amazing ! Can anybody tell me in comparison to the Allure what it's like. Am I worried for nothing ?

I have to wonder, what you expect people to tell you and I don't mean that to sound mean, it is just what one gets out of a cruise has a lot to do with expectations. If you go thinking you made a mistake, you will finish the cruise thinking you made a mistake.

Of course you already know it isn't going to be the same experience you had with Disney. But the price isn't the same either. Another problem and hopefully it will not create a negative experience, if you haven't cruised with your dauther before, you may want to remember cruising with a toddler on a mainsteam cruise line can be challenging. But if you look for activities you can do together you will have a great time. You will not have time for the casino or the spa; there are things we all know we can't do when we have our little ones with us. Everyone has gone through this when raising children.

Now, you talk about increase in gratuities, I don't know the last time you cruised but have you checked the DSC on Disney and RCI? You talk about excursion prices, tell me about a cruise line that doesn't have overpriced ones and have you checked, again, the prices on other lines? this is why we rarely book excursions through the cruise line. And the fireworks issue, I am still in shock anyone even mentioned this. A few minutes of fireworks should have no affect on how someone feels about their curise or vacation for that matter. If you are accustom to using room service, I can see where this would be a concern. More of us do not depend on eating in our cabin than do. With rare exceptions, why would anyone want to eat in a crowded cabin or on a tiny balcony?

I am concerned about your love for RCI, are you going to judge NCL unfairly because it wasn't your first choice?
