When you transfer your CDN booking to a US TA, then aren't you paying the balance of your cruise fare in US dollars at 35% exchange rate? Since Celebrity's exchange rate is lower, are you still, after all, ahead with the extra OBC from the US TA?

If I am understanding this correctly-(and those who've done this before can correct me if I'm wrong)--

1)If you book directly with the cruise line in Canadian dollars, then you can find a travel agency that will accept that booking in Canadian dollars and then receive whatever other perks the US TA is offering. We are not allowed to name which US travel agencies will do this on this forum as it is against the rules, but just shop around.

2) If you book directly with the cruise line in Canadian dollars, then even if you don't move it to a US TA as per above the advantage remains that the initial agreed upon dollar amount still won't change if the CDN dollar tanks between the booking and final payment-which is what happened to a lot of us this year. Additionally, any OBC that the cruise line gives you will be in US dollars.

We booked our November 2015 Infinity Panama Canal cruise nearly a year ago with a US TA. At the time, we got an excellent price of $2749.00USD for 15 nights in AQ class with drink package, prepaid gratuities and $700.00 OBC included. Our final payment went through the other day and the balance of $5250.00USD went to $7202.00CAD! OUCH

So now we are left with a choice, we can dwell on the awful exchange rate and kick ourselves that we didn't pay it off earlier (if we'd only had that crystal ball to predict the economy) OR we can rejoice in the extra perks we got included along with the extra Airmile points we gained on our credit card because of the increase!.... "Sometimes you have to make Lemonade out of Lemons...."

Fast forward to our May 2016 family cruise for 7 cruise, that we are treating our adult kids to and the deposits have been made. USD for Cruise fare, shore excursions, drink packages and pre cruise hotel rooms and tours in New York City! We're thinking now of paying the online TA cancellation penalty and booking an All-Inclusive somewhere for a heck of a lot cheaper!!!

Lets keep our fingers crossed things improve in the near future!
