Istanbul Transport from Airport to Tourist Area

Just organizing some basics; Wondered about transportation from Istanbul to hotels in the tourist area of Sultanahmet. Are the taxis alright or is it best to book private transportation? Same question for the cruise port and back to the airport.

Thought I heard some negatives about the taxis, but not sure if that is about taxis everywhere in Istanbul. So are they advised if using them outside of either the airport or cruise port? Thanks for any help in advance.

Go to Trip Advisor and read the comments there on the Istanbul forum. There are several discussions on taxis and other methods of getting from the airport to hotels, and from the ships to the airport. Depends on the cruise line, but our cruise line is too expensive so we are booking through one of the recommended companies we found on Trip Advisor.

So why did you decide to book through a company rather than just grab a taxi. Is it cost?

Because we prefer not having to wonder if there will be some issues around paying for a taxi from the airport, we've arranged for our hotel to have a driver meet us.

 

We pay for it at the hotel's reception.

 

Perhaps your hotel will do the same.
