Personalities versus marketing?

Has anyone noticed that recent cruise ship marketing has seemed to focus on the CEOs of the respective cruise lines? I get a box full of mail from various cruise lines, and it seems that in particular Oceania and Crystal have featured their CEO in their respective mailings.

I'm just curious if this is some sort of "personalization" attempt by the cruise lines (i.e. "we really care and here is our world famous CEO to tell you that")? Most marketing rarely if ever mentions the CEO (with pictures!).

Thoughts?

Frank del Rio, when he was "just" boss of Oceania, was a regular on this forum, answering questions and righting wrongs. A great leader who was in touch with his audience.

Since being kicked upstairs to head the parent company I haven't noticed any posts by him. But I guess he's quite busy!
