Most of the people you get on the phone with Princess don't have been on all the ships (neither have I ;)) and for that reason have no idea if the info they have is correct or not. (neither have I ;))

Quite possible that the phone rep has not been on any Princess ship at all.

As stated in my earlier post, the mid ship cabins on deck 8 of the Regal have no obstruction. You can see pictures of my Regal balcony on deck 8 in my review below. :)

That's good to know. It looks there are quite a few cabins like yours was. We were in E228 on the Royal and it's in front of the tenders so was pretty unobstructed, but there are only 2 such cabins on each side. Liked it because it was so close to the front stairs, theater, etc. Guess I need to move beyond my "snit" over there being no central stairs from Deck 8 down on these new ships and go back to the middle of Emerald.

Thanks....just a bit disappointed as the person at Princess told me there was only a beam as obstruction.....looks like a lot more than a beam......oh well....

Yes that happened to me as well. We were booked in E628 for a January 2016 sailing and was told by my agent and Princess that it was the sliding door beam but other than that it was fine straight out. Glad I did more research (thank you CC) as I found it was WAY too obstructed for my taste so we upgraded to a deluxe balcony on the Marina deck. It was a bit more expensive but in my eyes well worth it. Maybe I'm a spoiled brat but I would have cried if I walked into our cabin and saw that. One person on CC also mentioned that even if you look out and just see the bottom of the lifeboat below your railing, by the end of the cruise it gets covered with Birdie droppings. Just sayin'!
