Just off Anthem

Were they rotating menus in the four included restaurants? I'm still trying to figure out how to book for our 8 night cruise based on the menus changing. Please let me know what the menu schedule was. Thanks!

I just posted about this here.

Almost forgot, the menus in the restaurants change slightly every so often so that it's not *exactly* the same each time. Maybe one or two dishes change. And, there's always a group of 'core' options that are the same across all the main restaurants. Things like: grilled chicken breast, baked salmon, Manhattan strip steak...The same went for the starters / appetisers, too

I think the menus changed every rotation. I would guess that for an eight nighter it would be something like:

Night 1 - The Grande menu 1

Night 2 - Silk menu 1

Night 3 - American Icon menu 1

Night 4 - Chic menu 1

Night 5 - The Grande menu 2

Night 6 - Silk menu 2

Night 7 - American Icon menu 2

Night 8 - Chic menu 2

There isn't much difference between menu 1 and menu 2 within each restaurant, although obviously there are differences across the restaurants!

:)

Hello, thank you for the time to write these! We are due to sail on Anthem in October with 2 of our children and am puzzled about an indoor pool! I'm assuming the weather will not be warm enough for the outside pools (it's the TA) but the only info I can find is the solarium pool that is indoor, but adult only! Do you know if there is another? Thank you in advance!

You're welcome!

The Solarium is indoors on deck 14 at the front end of the ship and is adult only. Between that and the outdoor pool and the H2O Zone is a pool area with a retractable roof. I would guess that the roof would be closed for your TA which would make this pool an indoor pool. There were kids in it on our cruise (including ours). Have a look at this deck plan (deck 14 is the 3rd from the right). The Solarium (& Devinly Decadence) are forward. Behind this is the indoor pool (with 2 whirlpools). There is also a Pool Bar there. The next 'zone', with the Sky Bar, pool, whirlpools, and H2O Zone, is outdoors. You can see on the plan there are horizontal lines running across the width which show roughly where the 'zones' are. [The movie screen is also in the wrong place on this plan. It's actually along the length of the outdoor pool on the port side rather than across the width]. Hopefully, despite my rambling, it should be fairly clear. If not, I'm sure someone else will be able to chip in! :D.

Do they still have the Italian Tea cocktail? It was one of my favourites on Independence but apparently there is no stock cocktail menu anymore and it varies in each bar :/

I've not heard of that cocktail before. Mind you, I only ever ask for a Caipirinha or Long Island Iced Tea! I expect that if a bartender has heard of it, then they'll make it for you. It might even be available in the Bionic Bar. I you know how to make one, then you can enter a custom cocktail and the robots will make it for you!

I'll try and answer any questions about Anthem you may have.

:)

Good morning:

We are celebrity cruisers with elite plus status. Since the Summit is the only ship they sail out of NJ, we are looking at Anthem of the Seas trying to avoid having to fly. Our problem is a strong sensitivity to smoke and we understand that the smoking allowed in the casino doesn't exactly stay in the casino. We would be booking an OV stateroom and notice they have some on deck three forward of the casino. Do you know if those rooms would have the problem with smoke smell seeping into them? I think otherwise we could find ways around the ship while avoiding the casino area.

I would appreciate your input. Thank you very much.

Jennie

The only obvious space for smoke leaking out of the casino is in the waiting area for the two dining venues on deck four (top of the stairs leading up from deck three casino area). The rest of the spaces should be fine.

Thank you very much. You've eased our minds.

Can't wait to try Anthem

If it's really an issue for you, why don't you look on another deck so you don't have to worry about it? I'd hate to see your vacation tarnished for something that can be prevented.

I also THINK that you can get a balcony discount, which would put you on a different deck (given your celebrity status, you should have a high tier on Royal).

Hi,

We had a 'superior' balcony stateroom (D3) on deck 6, port side, number 6246. It was near the forward lift (elevator) lobby which was handy and we didn't notice any noise. Many of the deck 6 staterooms have partially obscured views due to the lifeboat supports, but ours didn't. We also used the sofa bed as beds 3&4 for the kids. The only gripe about that was with the sofa as a bed, it was tight getting to the balcony as there was hardly any gap between the units and the bed.

The kids had the soda package which they didn't use that much but was convenient to have.

For the evening meals, we only ate in the 4 comp. restaurants. I thought the food was good. Service was good, but I think that more wait staff are needed as the ones that were there seemed to be always rushing around. Me and my wife's favourite was Silk, my kids liked American Icon and Chic, but I couldn't find fault with any of them. Even the Windjammer, which sometimes gets a bad rap, was good for lunch. American Icon was good for breakfast.

Good :D

:)

Apologies all, the stateroom was near the aft elevator lobby (not that it makes much difference to you, but I like to be correct!) :D

I didn't notice the smoke smell outside of the casino, but then it doesn't bother me too much (but I am a life-long non-smoker). The most noticeable area for smoke smell was near the smoking area on deck 14, port side next to the outdoor pool. But, that was normally because I forgot it was there and ended up walking straight through it :roll eyes:. There was no smoke smell, as far as I could tell, in the outdoor pools. For info, the other smoking area was a (semi-)enclosed shelter on deck 5, starboard. You can see where it is on the plan - it's the area to the right of Vintages, where there should be a lifeboat (don't worry, it's still there - just moved forward :D ). There is no real call to walk past it, so unless you have a balcony nearby, then this smoking area should be no worries!

I hate smoke, however 1 of our party is a smoker so we spend some time in the casino. The extraction process is very good because I would happily sit at the bar in the casino with no problem.

Of course it helped that Eric was "forcing" Baileys based drinks on me.

Thank you all for your kind words. We are accustomed to avoiding the outdoor smoking areas on Celebrity, but have heard of smoke filling other areas near and above the Casino. It's just a problem because I get a pretty bad migraine if I don't stay away from it. This is all very encouraging.

Thanks again

Jennie

Ahhh.

In that case your in trouble. Even though the casino smoke is well ventilated, Eric's Bailey's based drinks will induce a headache all on their own!

We 'did' North Star when we were in port in Gibraltar. We went later on in the day, after our Mediterranean Steps excursion and a short duty-free shopping visit. There was quite a queue when we were there, but I have seen other times with a shorter line. I think the ride is about 10 minutes and there is room for (I think) 14 at a time. I would estimate that we waited about 30 minutes in line. It didn't go out over the side of the ship, probably because we were in port. I did see it go out over the side one sea day.

They did host Quest in SeaPlex. I think it was day 12, but I can't find that Cruise Compass at the moment to confirm.

:)

Great posts by the way and apologies for 'butting in' on your preview, but would like to add some comments.

We did the Anthem early July and really had some great weather.

I was fortunate to board the North Star around 5 times during the cruise and not really having the 'head for heights' I managed it ok, in fact it travels upwards so slowly that you do not really notice it is moving. But the views alone are something to look forward to. It goes up something like 300 feet above sea level.

The only negative comment I have is that, in the area which was set aside for queuing, there was no shade.

The 'Anthem' is definitely a ship with the WOW factor.

Oh yes, I forgot about that! We were out there in line for about 30 mins, too!.
