Are there plentiful taxis at the port in Barcelona ?

They have implemented taxi tariff T4 this year which is all inclusive at 39 euro to/from the port of Barcelona and the airport. This includes up to 4 passengers and 4 bags and the port and airport supplements.

Yes. There are absolutely plenty of taxis at the port of Barcelona.

Some will state per the fact that the line can get quite long that this is not the case, but actually there are always 100s of taxis waiting in the holding area and to keep traffic moving they send 20 taxis at a time to each terminal.

At peak times the line at each terminal can take a maximum of 30 minutes from terminal to taxi. Peak time is normally 9 AM to 10 AM. Both prior and post this time tend to take about 10 to 15 minutes.

While available taxis for 5 or 6 passengers can bring an additional 15 minute wait.

Hi..we disembark in Barcelona on 13th september along with approx 13,000 other people..the Allure,Vision and Norwegian epic are all there at the same time. Does anyone have any experience of how long the taxis will be(we have a 10am flight) thank you.

The 13th of September is put on Code Red which means each terminal will have its own set of port busses to ease crowding as busses will run about every 5 minutes.

That also means that they will have additional taxis in the waiting zone. Barcelona has been handling Allure and Epic along with 1 to 4 more ships every Sunday all season.

As you have a 10:00 AM flight you will want to try to do 'self-disembark' if that is feasible and leave the ship between 06:30 and 07:00.

Early disembark has much shorter lines for the taxis and they constantly send about 20 taxis a minute to each terminal as needed.

If your flight is non-Schengen area you are 'supposed' to try to be at the airport 3 hours prior and for Schengen it is now 2 hours prior.

Check-in closes 60 minutes prior at Barcelona for non-Schengen.

There were plenty of taxi's to pick, but we did not meet any drivers who spoke English.

That is unfortunate. While drivers are not 'thrilled' to use their English at times usually basic understanding can be achieved.

The taxi rank at Barcelona port is manned by a coordinator that could communicate a destination for a passenger if asked.

Spanish primary education is now required and while in Barcelona the early focus would be on Catalan and Spanish (Castellano), students are required to take English from age 11 and then add a 4th language, usually either German or French for the last two years of study.

We are in Barcelona for the day next summer on harmony of the seas. We want to take my parents in law to see sagrada ( we were there 2years ago and it was stunning ) - I'm thinking a taxi to sagrada would be the best option ( I am planning to book a tour for it ) then stroll about a bit afterwards and take a taxi back. How much should a taxi be from the port to sagrada? We got ripped off in Barcelona previously by an unscrupulous taxi driver and don't want that to happen again!

You will want to consult 2016 fares that have not yet been released.

Taxi fare T3 is in affect on Sundays and is the highest priced day.

A rough estimate to Segrada would be about 22 euro for up to 4 passengers.

It is hard to really get ripped off if the meter is on as they only gain a small amount extra in time and distance from taking a 'scenic' route. You will see the taxi fare on the meter T1,T2, or T3 and they only have 3 choices.

The suppliments that are allowed to be charged are in the window of every taxi and are in English and Spanish and Catalon. Just tell the driver you will need a receipt and that shows the metered fares and any appropriate supplements. 3.10 of the fare will be added if you take a taxi from the port, for instance.

Thanks - that's very useful info. The taxi we took previously didn't put his meter on - not sure what was going on but I am very careful now with taxis - all part of life's learning curve! Cruise critic is my best friend now - a bit of research in advance pays dividends.
