Booking a cruise

How close to embarkation can you generally book a cruise? DH asked me this last night and I had no idea.

You could book a cruise just a few days before embarkation but most rooms if not all could be sold out plus you still need things like airline tickets.

Like Keith said, it just depends on what you are wanting. Do you just want to make it on the ship? If you don't care what kind of room you get, the location, or the itinerary, you can book the cruise the last few days before it sets sail.

But if you are more particular you would likely want to start looking a few months out. The better rooms, ships and itineraries are going to sell out faster

Most cruise lines will allow you to call and book the night before sailing. With Carnival, you can call in the morning and cruise in the afternoon. but you have to call, it can't be booked online. EM
