"Interesting" Epic 2/25/17 itinerary

We're looking at cruises for February of 2017. The Epic itineraries were released today and I'm in information-gathering mode.

The 2/25/17 only has two ports -- St. Thomas and Tortola. Okay. I can handle sea days. They can be relaxing.

And then I decided to check to see how long we were going to be in port in Tortola (the second stop), being that we had two full sea days to make it back to Miami. I was thinking maybe we'd have a nice long stop in Tortola to make the trip worthwhile.

Ummm....no....

Port time in Tortola is from 7:00 am until 2:00 pm. Granted, this is seven hours in port, but we're leaving mid-day when we don't even have a third stop to impede our progress to Port Canaveral?

Yes, this cruise is a little less expensive than the others we are looking at. I know there are things going on at the port/in the background that we aren't privy to. I know we can choose not to do this cruise (and we most likely won't), but I just think NCL maybe needs to take some time in the future to look at some of their itineraries and see if anything can be done to make them more attractive to their customers. This cruise already has four sea days in order to make money from their customers. Would another two or three hours in port really break them? :D

As noted elsewhere, NCL is having computer issues with respect to cruises involving repositioned ships. I suspect that an updated itinerary with additional ports will show up in the next day or so. Stay tuned.

Thanks for this. I haven't read that far down the boards today -- I'm working remotely so not as attached to my computer as I usually am. :)

In my opinion, the more sea days on the Epic, the worse off you are. If the ship is full, it was extremely crowded on sea days on my cruise last summer. The design of the outdoor areas is just not well thought out. Spice H2O has a tiny pool for adults to share (like the size of a big bathtub) and the main pool area has 2 small pools for thousands of people to share. I would be very apprehensive to take the Epic on a cruise with a lot of sea days.

I need to chime in: I love Epic on sea days, did a west bound TA on her last year, and am planning to do the next one in 2016.

If you want to have loungers directly at the pools and want to use the pools a lot, then you may have the same impression as Lilystar.

I was enjoying entertainment (classes and other things on the Atrium), forward sun deck, the spa, the slides and the bars and boom it was time for dinner ;)

Just to give another perspective :)

IMO, :D this will make those who "missed" the CTN no longer offered due to US CBP regulations "happier" [sarcasm mode /off] - think of all the days & hours at sea, wine & dine, casino, dance parties, spa, duty-free shopping, and whatever.

But, for others - not so much, seriously. As for loungers, space around the pool and alike - those who live up to the Haven experience probably have less issues with it :p

Maybe, folks should look into the option/possibility of leaving the ship at @ St. Thomas on the US side, and then rejoin/board on the British side @ Tortola, and overnight on land  - might as well. Or, folks would be "inclined" to stick with NCL shore ex instead of venturing with independent tours or on their own.

As this is Feb. 2017, who knows what other changes will NCL make between tomorrow & then, before final payment, etc. in the "remote" possibility of more redeployment of ships within the fleet. Just saying out loud, no facts to back it up.
