That would be so cool to get approved and built by next April when were going to be there. but I know not possible. I bet it will get approved to be built but probably wont be built for a year or 2. but that would be an awesome solution to the tendering issue and like they said about Royal Caribbean largest ships and the passenger capacity they hold or RC just bypassing those ports because of the tendering issues. cant imagine the lines waiting to get off the ship when a extremely large ship arrives

That sounds like a great idea, hope it gets built. We have never missed Grand Cayman due to weather related issues, but I know others have. This would certainly make a difference.

I don't know if it will really speed up the process. The cable cars are smaller so they won't be able to take as many passengers as the tenders.

With the environmental impact a pier would have on their reef system it will never happen.

The drawings shown in local media show a plan with two island piers. Each island pier could dock two ships.

 

Then cable car lines would transport passengers ashore. There are two cable car lines to each island pier.

 

If the total capacity of all four cable car lines is the stated 20,000 passengers per hour then presumably each individual line has a maximum capacity of 5,000 passengers per hour making a maximum capacity of 10,000 per hour to a given island pier.

 

Realistically, they won't run at full capacity all the time.

 

So still figure it may take about an hour to transfer all passengers ashore from one of the larger ships. Sure you can get off the ship quickly.... but you are then stuck waiting for a cable car. Just moves where the line forms.
