Athens port to airport?

I am thinking on taking Greek/Turkey Princess cruise next year that starts in Rome and ends in Athens.

 

How far is the port to Athens airport?

 

Will I be able to take a 1pm flight home? I am playing on taking Princess transfer to the airport.

What time do you arrive in Piraeus?

Princess itinerary says the Royal docks at 4am.

It is about 45 minutes by cab to the airport. You should not have any issues with a 1:00 p.m. departure, in fact you will probably be waiting at teh airport for 3 - 4 hours. Don't get there too early you can't check bags.

two reasons to look into taking the metro

 

1. Athenian cab drivers are mostly war criminals..ok too harsh but deserved reputation for being dishonest

 

2. surface traffic can be a nightmare...especially if you happen to run into demonstrations. metro is likely to be more timely

 

only issue may be getting from ship to metro. we did it the other way which was easy...there is supposed to be a shuttle from the port but not sure how it works
